The International Information Centre of Turkmenistan and ‘Russia-1’ shot a joint report about Hero of Turkmenistan Berdimuhamed Annayev. This is reported by the International Information Centre.

Berdimuhamed Annayev was born in 1904 in the village of Yzgant (now Gokdepe etrap of Akhal velayat). In 1944 he voluntarily went to the front of the Great Patriotic War, where he fought in the 748th rifle regiment of the 206th division of the 2nd Ukrainian Front.

Berdimuhamed Annayev was posthumously awarded for heroism with the medal ‘For Bravery’ (Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, June 2018).

After returning from the front, he became a teacher of the Turkmen language. In 2020, the battle standard of the regiment under which he fought was delivered to Ashgabat as a symbol of memory.

Turkmenistan made a significant contribution to the Victory: more than 300 thousand of its natives participated in the war, 104 became Heroes of the Soviet Union. The People’s Memory Memorial Complex in Ashgabat is dedicated to the fallen in the war and earthquake victims.
