In August, Turkmenistan hosted a number of major international events

In August, Turkmenistan hosted a number of significant international events, according to the state news agency TDH.

The main event of the month was the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone. The forum brought together leaders and delegations from more than 100 countries, representatives of international organisations and businesses.

During the conference and accompanying meetings, issues of sustainable development, regional cooperation and strengthening international ties were discussed. Negotiations was held between the Turkmen leadership and the heads and representatives of a number of countries, as well as international organisations. Topics such as energy, transport, trade, and cultural and humanitarian cooperation were raised.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening partnerships in Central Asia, developing the trilateral format of Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan, and interacting with international organisations. There were also Days of Friendly States, cultural and sporting events dedicated to regional cooperation and Caspian Sea Day.

The results of the month showed Turkmenistan's active foreign policy aimed at expanding multilateral ties and promoting an ‘open door’ policy.
