Turkmen delegation held talks with OSCE ODIHR in Warsaw

An official delegation from Turkmenistan, led by representatives of the Central Commission for holding elections and referendums, the Mejlis, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mass Media, visited Warsaw to hold working meetings at the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’.

The visit was organised in accordance with the instructions of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov. During talks with the Director of the Office, Maria Telalian, and heads of relevant departments of the Organisation, the interlocutors discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation. Particular attention was paid to issues of cooperation in the field of electoral processes, human rights protection and the development of democratic institutions.

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the development of a Partnership Roadmap, which will define specific areas and mechanisms for further cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE ODIHR. This document is intended to contribute to strengthening cooperation within the framework of international commitments and standards of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
