Turkmen weightlifter Atabek Azamatov has won the silver medal at the IWF World Youth Championships, which are being held in Cali (Colombia). This was reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan.

In the under-60 kg weight class, he achieved a total of 249 kg (116 kg in the snatch and 133 kg in the clean and jerk). In addition, Azamatov won a small gold medal in the snatch event. The competition was won by Mexico’s Víctor Méndez, who totalled 250 kg. The bronze medal went to Russia’s Evgenii Butuzov.

Another representative of Turkmenistan, Kerem Gurbandurdyev, finished seventh with a total of 237 kg (107 kg in the snatch and 130 kg in the clean and jerk). The World Youth Championships will conclude on 11 July.
