Turkmen diplomatic missions held cycling events for World Bicycle Day

Sporting events dedicated to World Bicycle Day, celebrated on June 3, were held at Turkmenistan’s diplomatic missions abroad. The initiatives aim to promote a healthy lifestyle, environmental awareness, and international cooperation, according to the press service of the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On May 31, 2026, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kyrgyz Republic organized a cycling ride in Bishkek’s “Intymak” Park. The event brought together embassy staff, Turkmen students, and members of the diaspora. Participants were introduced to the motto of 2026 and Turkmenistan’s role in the establishment of World Bicycle Day through the UN General Assembly resolution adopted in 2018.
On the same day, the Consulate of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation (Astrakhan) held a cycling event along the Volga embankment. Consulate staff and Turkmen students took part. The initiative was noted as part of efforts to promote the principles of sustainable development and healthy living.
On May 30, 2026, a cycling ride took place in Bucharest at the initiative of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania, with the support of the city municipality and the “Green Revolution” association. Diplomats, representatives of Romanian state institutions, students, and Turkmen citizens participated. The role of sports diplomacy in developing international cooperation was emphasized.
A similar event was held in Dubai, organized by the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in the United Arab Emirates. Participants discussed the importance of eco-friendly transport and the promotion of sustainable development. The events were held within the framework of initiatives to advance sports diplomacy, strengthen friendship between peoples, and promote healthy lifestyles.
