The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, presented two Turkmen Alabai puppies to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov, as a sign of friendship between the peoples. The puppies, named Alabai and Aladzha, were gifted on behalf of the Turkmen people to the people of Tatarstan. The gift was accepted with gratitude. The report notes that Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation continue to strengthen relations of friendship and strategic partnership. Cooperation with Russian regions, including the Republic of Tatarstan, covers energy, transport, high technologies, and other areas.
It is emphasized that the agreements reached during the recent visit of Hero-Arkadag to Tatarstan contributed to the further development of bilateral cooperation. The sides also cooperate in the field of dog breeding. Earlier, Hero-Arkadag had already presented Rustam Minnikhanov with a Turkmen Alabai named Akdost. The article notes that the transfer of the puppies became a symbol of Turkmen-Tatarstan friendship and contributed to the popularization of the Turkmen Alabai.
It is also emphasized that in December 2025, the national nomination “The Art of Breeding the Turkmen Alabai” was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
