The Turkmenistan weightlifting team won eight gold and four bronze medals at the 6th International Fajr Cup, which is being held in Tehran from 26 to 30 November. This was reported by Turkmenportal with reference to the Weightlifting Federation of Turkmenistan.
Thirty-seven athletes from eight countries are participating in the competition: Iran, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
Seyitjan Mirzayev (up to 60 kg) and Bunyad Rashidov (up to 71 kg) won three gold medals in their weight categories. Mirzayev lifted 124 kg in the snatch, 150 kg in the clean and jerk and 274 kg in total. Rashidov lifted 150 kg in the snatch, 165 kg in the clean and jerk and 315 kg in the total.
Gaygysyz Torayev (up to 79 kg) won two gold medals — in the clean and jerk (187 kg) and total (332 kg), as well as bronze in the snatch (145 kg).
Bronze medals were also won by Ramazan Torayev (up to 88 kg) in the clean and jerk (176 kg) and total (316 kg), and Galkan Rahmanov (up to 88 kg) in the snatch (145 kg).
Turkmenistan is represented by seven athletes in the tournament. On 28 November, Rustem Annaberdiyev (up to 94 kg) and Davranbek Hasanbayev (up to 110 kg) will compete. The judging panel includes Aman Meredov, a representative of Turkmenistan.
