Turkmenistan is preparing to host the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which will take place in August in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

This event will be an important platform for discussing political, economic and humanitarian issues relevant to 32 countries representing more than 570 million people.

The forum will focus on the development of transport infrastructure and logistics, access to global markets, strengthening international cooperation and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Turkmenistan offers a systematic approach to supporting LDCs, including the creation of special mechanisms within the UN and the implementation of international infrastructure projects.

Large-scale projects are being implemented in the country, including international railway corridors, high-speed motorways and fibre-optic networks, including in the direction of Afghanistan.

Particular attention is being paid to integration into global transport chains through the port of Turkmenbashi and the development of multimodal routes. Turkmenistan cooperates with international organisations in the fields of aviation, road transport, railways and maritime transport, striving to become an important logistics hub in Eurasia.

The choice of Avaza as the venue underscores the country's commitment to promoting international dialogue and strengthening ties between developing countries. The conference could be a turning point in the formation of a more equitable and sustainable global transport architecture.
