A conference on the role of women in modern society was held at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. The event was attended by MPs, representatives of the UN, UNESCO and foreign diplomatic missions, according to the news website Turkmenportal.

Participants discussed issues relating to support for mothers and children, the state’s humanitarian policy, and the development of international cooperation in the field of women’s rights.

Following the meeting, the importance of expanding educational, medical and economic opportunities for women, as well as strengthening their role in society, was emphasised.
