The President of Turkmenistan held a telephone conversation with Nikol Pashinyan

On 4 September, a telephone conversation took place between the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan. The parties discussed the development of bilateral relations and international cooperation, according to the TDH news agency.

During the telephone conversation, Nikol Pashinyan noted Armenia’s interest in further strengthening cooperation with Turkmenistan on the basis of friendship and equality. The President of Turkmenistan emphasised that bilateral relations are built on the principles of mutual trust, respect and openness.

The parties also discussed environmental issues. Nikol Pashinyan invited the President of Turkmenistan to take part in the Leaders’ Summit, which will be held in Yerevan in October on the eve of the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity. Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan’s participation.

The President of Turkmenistan, in turn, invited the Prime Minister of Armenia to the CIS Heads of State Summit, which will take place on 9 October at the ‘Awaza’ National Tourist Zone as part of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Expressing his gratitude for the invitation, Nikol Pashinyan confirmed Armenia’s active participation in the Summit.

During the conversation, the parties also exchanged views on topical issues of Turkmen-Armenian cooperation and noted the importance of its further expansion. The telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the Armenian side.
