President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow sent a message to participants of the ceremonial events marking the fifth anniversary of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow Charity Fund for Children in Need of Guardianship, according to the online resource AsmanNews.

The head of state emphasized that support for children and the protection of maternal and child health remain priorities of state policy. The creation of the Fund, the President stressed, is aimed at assisting children in need of special care and helping them adapt to life.

The message notes that over the five years of the Fund’s operation, hundreds of children have received treatment and medical assistance. At the same time, measures are being implemented to strengthen the material and technical base of medical institutions, including the procurement of equipment, ambulances, and medical supplies.

The development of healthcare infrastructure is highlighted separately. In particular, the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Center was established in the city of Arkadag.

The President also underlined the role of international cooperation. Turkmenistan works with the UN and UNICEF, implements programs in the field of children’s rights protection, and provides humanitarian aid to foreign countries.
