President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated elders and all compatriots on International Day of Older Persons. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

The Head of State noted that the holiday symbolises respect and honour for the older generation, whose advice and guidance make an important contribution to strengthening national unity and educating young people in the spirit of patriotism and humanism.

The President of Turkmenistan stressed that respect for elders is a long-standing tradition of the Turkmen people, which continues to develop today.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the interests of the people and care for the older generation remain a priority of state policy. Large-scale socio-economic programmes are being implemented in the country, aimed at improving the living standards of the people and building new cities, villages and enterprises.

The President of Turkmenistan emphasised the special role of the older generation in strengthening society and wished the elderly good health, long life and prosperity.
