The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan met with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations

On 22 September, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, a meeting was held between Turkmenistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov and UN Deputy Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States Rabab Fatima. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The parties emphasised Turkmenistan's long-standing constructive cooperation with the UN and its specialised agencies. Particular attention was paid to the successful holding of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone.

The implementation of the key outcome documents of LLDC3 — the Awaza Political Declaration and the Programme of Action for 2024–2034 — was discussed. The Turkmen side expressed its readiness to work together and exchange priority measures for their implementation.

In addition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan announced his intention to use the platform of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly to promote LLDC3 decisions through joint activities on sustainable development.

In conclusion, the parties confirmed their readiness to expand cooperation within the UN system, strengthen international partnerships and support the global sustainable development agenda.
