The National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on 14 May met with representatives of Petronas - head of the company Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, Executive Vice President Mohd Jukris Abdul Wahab and Vice President for International Extractive Assets Mohd Redhani Abdul Rahman. The sides noted the friendly and constructive nature of relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia, built over more than 30 years of co-operation.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked Petronas for its contribution to the development of the oil and gas industry and stressed the importance of continuing joint work, including the implementation of new industrial projects.

In addition, Hero-Arkadag reported on the signing of new agreements between Turkmen state concerns and companies from Malaysia and the UAE aimed at expanding the partnership.

Special attention was paid to educational co-operation: more than 200 Turkmen students studied at the Petronas University of Technology. In this regard, the National Leader of the Turkmen People proposed to intensify the work on educational programmes and consider the participation of ‘Petronas’ in the construction of a new plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas.

At the end of the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence in further strengthening of partnership with Petronas and thanked the representatives of the company for cooperation.
