The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan issued a statement in response to a report by the Ukrainian television channel ‘FREEДОМ’ on 8 July, in which Turkmenistan was described as a ‘closed’ country with limited access to the Internet. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry's statement protests against such information, which the Turkmen side considers unreliable and biased. It emphasises that the authors of the material have no direct experience of interaction with Turkmenistan, have not visited the country and have not been in contact with its official and public structures.

It is also noted that this is not the first case of dissemination of inaccurate information about Turkmenistan by the TV channel. The Foreign Affairs Ministry recalled the long-standing cooperation between the two countries, including gas supplies to Ukraine and the participation of Ukrainian companies in infrastructure projects in Turkmenistan.

In conclusion, the Turkmen side called on the Ukrainian authorities responsible for information policy to take measures to prevent such publications in the future.
