On October 30, during his speech at the XIII Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov identified environmental cooperation as one of the important areas of interaction between countries. This was reported by the TDH news agency.

The head of state emphasized the need for joint efforts to protect the environment, use natural resources rationally and counter the consequences of climate change.

Among the priority tasks were the rational use of water resources, combating desertification, preventing land degradation and protecting ecosystems.

The President of Turkmenistan also highlighted the initiatives put forward by the country to establish regional centers in Ashgabat under the auspices of the UN for climate change-related technologies and combating desertification.

The centers are expected to help address environmental problems, develop scientific and practical cooperation and formulate coordinated regional approaches.
