The Turkmenistan national team started well at the World Sambo Cup in Dushanbe, winning five medals on the first day of the tournament: two gold, two silver and one bronze. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal.

The champions were Zyba Orunova (up to 65 kg) and Madina Aydogdyeva (up to 59 kg). Aminat Guvanjova (up to 50 kg) and Gulzada Jorakulyeva (up to 72 kg) won silver. Annageldi Annasahedov (up to 88 kg) brought the team a bronze medal.

There will also be competitions involving men in combat sambo and women in sports sambo. A total of 180 athletes from 10 countries are participating in the World Cup.
