On 8 July, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, received the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mikayil Jabbarov, who had arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit. This was reported by the news agency TDH.

During the meeting, the Azerbaijani Minister for the Economy conveyed greetings and best wishes to the Head of State from Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, noting the particular importance Azerbaijan attaches to developing cooperation with Turkmenistan. Mikayil Jabbarov also emphasised that the recent state visit by the President of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan had taken bilateral relations to a new level.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his gratitude for the kind words, conveyed his best wishes in return to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and expressed his confidence that Mikayil Jabbarov’s visit would contribute to the strengthening of trade and economic cooperation. The Head of State also wished success for the forthcoming meeting of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani Inter-governmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

During the meeting, it was noted that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are consistently developing political dialogue, trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as implementing joint projects.

The parties emphasised the importance of the forthcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan to be held in Turkmenistan, and also noted the role of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani Inter-governmental Commission in expanding cooperation in the fields of trade, logistics, science and technology.

Particular attention was paid to developing cooperation in the energy sector, transport and transit, and logistics, taking into account the favourable geographical location of both countries. The prospects for expanding ties in the fields of science, education and culture were also discussed.

Following the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, expressed their confidence in the further strengthening of Turkmen-Azerbaijani cooperation and exchanged best wishes.
