On the second day of his state visit to Azerbaijan, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the city of Fuzuli, where he was welcomed by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. This was reported by the IIC.
The main event of the visit was a tour of the construction site of a mosque being built as a humanitarian gift from the Turkmen people to Azerbaijan. The project was launched in October 2025 in the city of Gabala during the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, with the participation of the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The construction is being financed by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care. The general contractor is the private enterprise “Aga-Gurluşyk”.
The mosque is designed to accommodate 500 worshippers. The complex will also include a sadaqah hall with seating for 250 people and facilities for ritual ablutions. According to the report, construction work is progressing at an active pace.
The facility is expected to become a symbol of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as the shared spiritual values of the Turkmen and Azerbaijani peoples.
After visiting Fuzuli, the President of Turkmenistan proceeded to the city of Shusha, where the program of the state visit continued.
