As part of his official visit to Italy, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the Turkmen-Italian Business Forum. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

In his speech, the Head of State emphasised that the aim of the forum was to give new impetus to the development of bilateral relations and take the partnership to a qualitatively new level. Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan's ‘open door’ policy was aimed at strengthening the economy and attracting foreign investment.

Among the priorities for the country's development, the President of Turkmenistan highlighted the creation of an industrial society and the diversification of the economy, including the expansion of energy routes, including in the western direction. The Head of State expressed his readiness to provide Italian businesses with all the conditions for active work in Turkmenistan.

The President of Turkmenistan paid particular attention to the prospects for cooperation in the transport sector – the creation of the Caspian-Mediterranean corridor – as well as in the textile industry, where Turkmenistan is interested in joint production and expanding exports.

In addition, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted his interest in Italian experience in the financial and banking sector and proposed developing cooperation between the financial institutions of the two countries.

During his visit, the President of Turkmenistan also took part in the opening of the archaeological exhibition ‘Ancient Civilisations of Turkmenistan’, which is the result of more than 30 years of cooperation between Turkmen and Italian archaeologists.
