On 24 September, a ceremony was held at the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan to present state awards to members of the diplomatic service to mark the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence. This was reported by the press office of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan.

Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Foreign Affairs Minister, highlighted the role of the diplomatic service in implementing the country’s foreign policy.

The ceremony also highlighted the outcomes of the previous day’s session of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, at which issues relating to the country’s socio-economic and innovation- and technology-driven development were discussed.

A Decree of the President of Turkmenistan on the awarding of honours to members of the diplomatic service was then read out. The diplomats were presented with ‘Watana bolan söýgüsi üçin’ (‘For Love to the Homeland’) medals.
