The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working visit to the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation where he took part in the XVI International Economic Forum ‘Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2025’ as a guest of honour. This is reported by the state news agency TDH.

Special attention in the work of the forum is paid to the issues of digitalisation and expansion of interaction between the countries of the Islamic World and Russia.

In his speech at the plenary session, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov outlined Turkmenistan's priorities in foreign economic policy, including the development of energy, logistics and technological projects, called for the creation of a Eurasian energy and transport belt, and stressed the need to consolidate the efforts of Islamic countries in response to global challenges.

In addition, Chairman of Khalk Maslakhaty noted the importance of food security, technological co-operation and humanitarian support, including to Afghanistan. The importance of the dialogue with Tatarstan as an example of successful interaction at the interregional level was also stressed.

After the forum, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov.

During the conversation, the sides discussed topical issues of bilateral interaction, emphasising the progressive development of Turkmen-Tatarstan ties.

Rustam Minnikhanov expressed gratitude for the participation of the Turkmen delegation in the forum ‘Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2025’ and noted the significance of the initiatives voiced by Hero Arkadag. He also conveyed warm words to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

In response, the National Leader of the Turkmen people thanked for the hospitality and expressed confidence that the visit to Tatarstan would serve to strengthen the strategic partnership with Russia. Chairman of Khalk Maslakhaty noted the high international prestige of the forum and the importance of the developing economic and humanitarian co-operation.

The sides emphasised the importance of regular contacts at the highest level and expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation, including projects in energy, industry and culture.

After the official events, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan visited the Galiaskar Kamal Tatar Academic Theatre.

Then, the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty and Rustam Minnikhanov travelled together to the Gabdulla Tuqay Kazan International Airport. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Head of Tatarstan bid farewell, exchanging good wishes to the peoples of the two countries.

After that, Hero Arkadag boarded the aircraft and left for Turkmenistan.
