The owner of an Alabay named Arwana, who was declared the winner of the competition for Turkmen Alabays, was presented with a Toyota Corolla. This was announced on 29 September at the opening ceremony of the President of Turkmenistan’s Ahal-Teke Equestrian Complex in Ashgabat. The news was reported by the TDH news agency.

The competition took place as part of the events marking the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence. Seven Alabay dogs took part, from which the judging panel selected the most beautiful representative of the breed.

The opening ceremony of the complex was attended by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov; the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov; members of the government; representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organisations; and horse breeders.

The events are taking place as part of the 2026 theme ‘Independent Neutral Turkmenistan − the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses’.
