In Ashgabat, Turkmenistan–Iran bilateral relations were discussed

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held talks with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the International Forum dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the country’s permanent neutrality, TDH reports.

The sides exchanged greetings. The President of Turkmenistan noted that Masoud Pezeshkian’s participation in the forum underscores Iran’s attention to Turkmenistan’s neutrality policy and to the events of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

The President of Iran thanked for the reception and stated that the Forum will contribute to strengthening peace at both regional and global levels. He also congratulated the Turkmen leader on the International Day of Neutrality and the 30th anniversary of this status.

The head of Turkmenistan emphasized that Iran is a close neighbor with whom Turkmenistan maintains longstanding fraternal ties. Historical and cultural commonalities provide a solid foundation for the further development of bilateral dialogue.

It was separately noted that Iran occupies an important place among Turkmenistan’s trade and economic partners. Recent years’ indicators demonstrate growth in cooperation.

The sides also pointed to potential for expanding contacts in the humanitarian sphere—science, education, sports, and tourism. During the conversation, the presidents confirmed their intention to strengthen friendly relations and develop mutually beneficial partnership.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Masoud Pezeshkian expressed confidence that cooperation between the two countries will continue to expand steadily.
