The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, has proposed the establishment of a Turkmen-Afghan commission on economic cooperation. This was reported by TDH.

The proposal was put forward during negotiations with Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Chairman of the Afghan Cabinet of Ministers for Economic Affairs, as part of a working visit to Afghanistan.

The parties discussed joint projects and the strengthening of the legal framework for bilateral cooperation, including the TAPI gas pipeline, the ‘Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan’ power transmission line and the fibre-optic communication link. The Afghan side expressed its willingness to consider the proposal.
