The 9th meeting of the Commission on the Conservation and rational use of the living aquatic resources of the Caspian Sea was held at the Caspian Sea Institute of Turkmenistan on 24–26 November. This was reported by the press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan.

The Commission was established on the basis of the Agreement on the Conservation of Aquatic Biological Resources of the Caspian Sea, signed at the Fourth Caspian Summit in Astrakhan and entered into force in 2016. The initiative to develop the document was put forward by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the Third Caspian Summit in Baku in 2010.

Turkmenistan chairs the Commission in 2025–2026.

The participants discussed the state of aquatic biological resources, measures for their conservation and reproduction, and exchanged the results of scientific research.

Following the meeting, it was decided not to conduct commercial fishing for sturgeon in 2026. Fishing for these species will only be permitted for scientific and reproduction purposes within agreed quotas. The meeting concluded with the signing of the Protocol.
