As part of Turkmen-German cooperation, professors and doctors from Germany are visiting Turkmenistan on a working visit. The specialists are exchanging expertise with their Turkmen colleagues in cardiology and cardiac surgery, according to the Turkmenportal.

The two sides are continuing their joint efforts to introduce modern methods of prevention, early diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for patients with cardiovascular diseases.

During the visit, German doctors are conducting diagnostic examinations and consultations. Joint cardiac surgery operations involving Turkmen doctors are also planned.

Cardiologist Jürgen Höhrer, Professor and Director of the University Clinic for Congenital Heart Defects and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery in Munich, emphasized the importance of timely surgical intervention for children with congenital heart defects.

"Congenital heart disease is one of the most common conditions diagnosed in children from an early age. Some cases require complex surgical interventions, making timely surgery particularly important for newborns," the specialist stressed.

The professor also noted that cooperation between Germany and Turkmenistan in cardiology and cardiac surgery is becoming increasingly close. German specialists regularly visit Turkmenistan and perform operations jointly with local doctors. The choice of treatment method depends on the complexity of the congenital heart defect: some cases require only a relatively simple surgical procedure, while others call for more complex operations involving higher risks.
