Future communication technologies discussed in Ashgabat at ITU forum

In Ashgabat, a two-day forum titled “Future Communication Technologies” is being held at the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan, organized jointly with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). This is reported by the news website Turkmenportal.
The event, taking place from June 29 to 30, brings together representatives of government bodies, regulators, telecom companies, and the scientific community of CIS countries.
Main attention is focused on the development of digital infrastructure and prospective communication technologies, including Wi-Fi 6/7/8 standards, LEO/MEO/GEO satellite systems, Direct-to-Device technologies, as well as the application of artificial intelligence in network management.
Separately, discussions address the development of transport networks, private mobile infrastructures, and the use of drones in telecom frequency bands. Participants include international experts from Kazakhstan, GSMA, and RIPE NCC. The forum will conclude with a roundtable where practical steps for implementing new telecom technologies in Turkmenistan will be considered.
