A forum entitled ‘Neutrality and Humanism: Comprehensive Support for an Inclusive Future’ was held in Ashgabat to mark World Children’s Day. Participants discussed issues related to the protection of children's rights, the development of international cooperation and the application of global practices in this area. This was reported by TDH.

The forum noted that support for the younger generation remains one of the key areas of state policy. The event was joined by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship and the UNICEF Representative Office in Turkmenistan.

Guests viewed an exhibition presented by departments of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection. The exhibition reflected the current programmes and projects of these departments.

Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice-President for Medical Activities of the Charitable Foundation, emphasised that the organisation and UNICEF are working to strengthen health and education systems and to support children in need of social assistance.

After the main part of the programme, tennis competitions for children with disabilities were held at the Olympic Village Tennis Complex.

During the forum, it was noted that the development of mass sports and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle remain important areas of focus in the country.
