A professional competition for banking sector employees was held in Turkmenistan to mark the 33rd anniversary of the introduction of the national currency, the manat. According to the “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” news agency, the event took place in the conference hall of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The competition was organized by the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the country’s credit institutions and the National Trade Union Centre of Turkmenistan.

Entitled “Transformations in the Banking System of Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan as the Foundation for Sustainable Development,” the competition aimed to improve the professional skills of banking specialists, identify talented employees and assess their knowledge of legislation governing banking activities.

The competition consisted of two stages. The first involved employees of banking institutions in the city of Arkadag and the velayats, while the second brought together representatives of the central offices of banks located in Ashgabat.

The results among employees of banks in the velayats and the city of Arkadag were as follows:

• 1st place – Mary Velayat Branch of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan;
• 2nd place – Dashoguz Velayat Branch of Turkmenistan’s Joint-Stock Commercial Bank “Halkbank”;
• 3rd place – Ahal Velayat Branch of Turkmenistan’s Joint-Stock Commercial Bank “Halkbank”.

Among employees of the central offices of banks in Ashgabat, the winners were:

• 1st place – Central Bank of Turkmenistan;
• 2nd place – Joint-Stock Commercial Bank “Rysgal”;
• 3rd place – State Commercial Bank of Turkmenistan “Daýhanbank”.

The winners and runners-up received valuable gifts.
