On 22-23 May 2025, representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part in the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress held in St. Petersburg (Russian Federation) in the format of video link. This was reported by the press service of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.

The forum was held under the motto ‘Planet Earth: Living in Harmony with Nature’. Since 2008, the Congress has served as an authoritative platform for inter-parliamentary dialogue on environmental security, harmonization of legislation in the field of environmental protection, promotion of healthy lifestyles, environmental education of the population, as well as the formation of a global agenda together with specialized UN bodies.

The key topics of the event were food security in the context of climate change, development of co-operation in the Caspian region and environmental problems of megacities.

In his speech, the representative of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan emphasised the country's commitment to the principles of sustainable development, noting the consistent measures taken in the field of environmental protection. Special attention was paid to Turkmenistan's initiatives in the field of water diplomacy aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and ensuring environmental well-being.
