On 15 September, the eleventh meeting of the High-Level Working Group on the Caspian Sea began in Ashgabat. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Delegations from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Russia, led by senior diplomats, are participating in the event. The meeting is chaired by the head of the Turkmen delegation, M.G. Atajanov.
The parties are discussing the methodology for establishing straight baselines in the Caspian Sea, current cooperation, and preparations for the next meeting of foreign affairs ministers. The creation of a working group on the problem of the shallowing of the Caspian Sea was also considered.
