Belarus and Turkmenistan discussed prospects for cooperation at a meeting at the Foreign Affairs Ministry

A working meeting between Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Pavel Utyupin and Turkmenistan's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Belarus Nazarguly Shagulyev took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. During the talks, the parties reviewed in detail the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation. This was reported by the online publication Turkmenportal.

Particular attention was paid to coordinating positions in preparation for the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC 3), which will be held from 4 to 8 August in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone. The diplomats discussed organisational issues related to the upcoming forum and possible joint initiatives.

The sides emphasised the closeness or similarity of their positions on key issues on the international agenda and reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening political dialogue and practical cooperation. In this context, the schedule of upcoming bilateral contacts at various levels was reviewed. Special attention was paid to issues of interaction in multilateral forums, including the upcoming meeting of women leaders within the framework of the UN conference.
