President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in celebratory events and the International Forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, TDH reports.

At the beginning of the talks, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the participation of the Armenian leader in the forum confirms support for Turkmenistan’s neutrality policy and interest in issues of peace and trust. Vahagn Khachaturyan expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized the significance of the forum for strengthening international dialogue.

The President of Armenia expressed readiness for environmental cooperation, highlighting Turkmenistan’s initiatives in the field of environmental protection. In response, Serdar Berdimuhamedov recalled that the International Year of Peace and Trust coincides with the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s recognition as a neutral state.

The head of state emphasized that the forum would serve as a platform for discussing joint approaches to contemporary challenges and developing international cooperation.

The parties noted the positive dynamics of relations between Turkmenistan and Armenia, based on equality and mutual respect. Khachaturyan’s visit to Awaza to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, where productive negotiations were held, was also recalled.

The presidents discussed prospects for expanding trade and economic ties and agreed that there are real opportunities to launch new joint projects and diversify cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties exchanged wishes for success and expressed confidence in the further strengthening of relations between Turkmenistan and Armenia.
