On June 28 this year, a round table on international cooperation in the field of migration and response to current humanitarian challenges was held in Ashgabat. The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan jointly with the UN and the International Organization for Migration. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the discussion, participants noted the prompt measures taken by Turkmenistan in response to the current regional situation. Particular attention was paid to the work of Ashgabat International Airport in servicing foreign aircraft and ensuring the smooth operation of all checkpoints on the Turkmen-Iranian border.
The round table emphasised the need to introduce modern international standards in the field of migration management. Participants discussed ways to improve crisis response mechanisms, enhance professional capacity and exchange practical experience. The effectiveness of the existing partnership between Turkmenistan, IOM and other international organisations was noted.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed mutual interest in further developing cooperation and exchanging best practices to improve preparedness for potential challenges in the field of migration.
