The Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas has launched a new Master’s programme in ‘Economics and Management of the Oil and Gas Industry’. The programme will commence in the 2026–2027 academic year, according to the press office of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

The programme has been developed taking into account the current requirements of the oil and gas sector and the outcomes of international Erasmus+ educational projects. It is based, in particular, on the ESGCA and GDCAU projects, which focus on ESG, sustainable development and the ‘green’ transition.

The programme includes two specialisations: ‘Economics and Management of the Oil and Gas Industry (ESG Strategies)’ and ‘Economics and Management of the Oil and Gas Industry (Sustainable Development of the Oil and Gas Industry)’.

The first specialisation trains specialists in the fields of ESG strategies, the assessment of environmental and social risks, corporate governance and sustainable finance. The second specialisation focuses on the rational use of resources, reducing environmental impact, energy efficiency and the development of the ‘green’ economy.

The new programme is the practical outcome of the university’s international cooperation under the Erasmus+ programme and aims to train specialists in the economics and management of the oil and gas industry with expertise in ESG and sustainable development.
