A delegation from Turkmenistan has departed for Tashkent to take part in equestrian competitions

On the same day, a Turkmen delegation held talks in the Republic of Azerbaijan with representatives of the transport and economic sectors. Logistics and trade issues were discussed. On April 2 in Baku, the delegation took part in a meeting of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States. The focus was on the development of economic ties and transport corridors. From April 1 to 3, a Turkmen delegation participated in the “EnergyProm-2026” forum in Kazan. Issues related to energy development, digitalization, and infrastructure reliability were considered. A meeting was held between the energy ministers of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation. In Ashgabat, the international exhibition “Cooperation and Development” was held on April 2–4. Around 100 companies participated. Opportunities for business partnerships were discussed. On April 5, the Turkmen delegation took part in the “Central Asia–Afghanistan” dialogue in Kabul. Projects for Afghanistan’s reconstruction were discussed. On April 6, a telephone conversation took place between the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey. On April 7, a telephone conversation was held between the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko. From April 8 to 10, a Turkmen delegation worked in the Republic of Korea. Consultations, meetings, and participation in the regional “Central Asia–Republic of Korea” forum took place. Issues of further partnership were discussed. In April, the National Leader of the Turkmen people paid a visit to the Republic of Austria. Meetings were held in Vienna with representatives of international organizations and the country’s leadership. Energy, climate, and sustainable development issues were discussed. Active contacts continued at the level of international organizations. Meetings were held with representatives of UNESCO, the World Health Organization, UNDP, and other structures. From April 15 to 17, a delegation from the People’s Republic of China visited Turkmenistan. Negotiations and a meeting of the intergovernmental committee were held. A number of documents were signed. A new stage in the development of the “Galkynyş” gas field was launched. Joint educational and medical projects were also opened. On April 17–18, a Turkmen delegation took part in CIS meetings and a forum in Antalya. Issues of regional security, economy, and infrastructure were discussed. During the month, Turkmenistan also participated in an ESCAP session in Bangkok, where sustainable development and regional cooperation were considered. In Ashgabat, negotiations were held with representatives of several countries and international organizations, as well as a business forum and an exhibition involving the People’s Republic of China. On April 29–30, meetings took place with representatives of the Seychelles and TURKSOY. Directions for further cooperation were discussed.
Turkmen students and faculty became prize-winners of an innovation competition
06.05.2026Students and faculty from Turkmen universities secured second place at the 2nd Global Sustainability Innovation Competition (GSIC 2026). The forum was held on April 17–19 in Denpasar (Bali, Indonesia). This was reported by the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”. Representatives from 12 countries took part in the competition. Turkmenistan was represented by teams from the S. A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University and the State Medical University of Turkmenistan named after Myrat Garryyev. The Agricultural University team presented a project titled “Design and Optimization of an Autonomous Solar Distillation System for Arid Regions.” The team included lecturer Meretmukhammet Hodjanepesov, master’s student Yaran Khudayberdiev, and student Batyr Khudayberdiev. The work focused on environmental sustainability and received high praise from the jury. Fourth-year students from the Medical University presented the project “Solutions to Environmental Problems of the Aral Sea” under the supervision of a lecturer from the Department of Medical Ecology and Hygiene. Experts noted the practical relevance of the study. As a result of the competition, both teams took second place. Participants were awarded diplomas and silver medals.
Turkmenistan will send 289 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj
06.05.2026The President of Turkmenistan has signed an order to send 289 pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. The state service “Türkmenhowaýollary” has been tasked with organizing a special flight to transport the pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and back. The trip will take place from May 21 to June 11, 2026. The expenses will be covered by the state service.

A referee from Turkmenistan officiated at the final of the beach soccer tournament
05.05.2026Timur Gulmuradov, a FIFA referee from Turkmenistan, was included in the officiating crew for the beach soccer final match at the 6th Asian Beach Games. He worked as the timekeeper in the match between the national teams of Iran and Oman, according to IIC. The competitions were held from April 22 to 30 in the Chinese city of Sanya on Hainan Island. Athletes from 45 countries took part in the Games. The program included 14 sports, among them beach soccer, beach volleyball, jiu-jitsu, climbing, sailing, and aquathlon. The participation of the Turkmen referee in the final served as confirmation of the level of the national refereeing school on the international stage. The Asian Beach Games are held every two years under the auspices of the Olympic Council of Asia. The first edition took place in 2008 in Bali. Later, the Games were hosted by Oman, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Turkmen university studies educational technologies in China

Special attention was given to laboratory equipment planned for installation in the institute’s new building complex. During the visit, the university representatives visited specialized companies, as well as Shandong and Beijing Pedagogical Universities. In Turkmenistan, veterans will be presented with gifts on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of Victory

The document is dedicated to the 81st anniversary of Victory, according to the online resource AsmanNews. Under the decree, the administrations of the velayats, cities, and etraps have been instructed to ceremonially present war veterans with cash and valuable gifts on behalf of the head of state. The decision was made in consideration of the veterans’ and home front workers’ contributions, as well as their role in fostering patriotic education among young people and strengthening social unity. The President of Turkmenistan has also signed a resolution on preparations for the 2026 grain harvest. The document provides for the establishment of a State Commission and approval of its membership. The commission is tasked with ensuring the organized conduct of the harvest, the transportation of grain to storage facilities and elevators without losses, as well as timely settlements with grain producers.
The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan met with the President of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly

The Turkmenistan national karate team will compete at the Central Asian Cup in Tashkent
05.05.2026The national traditional karate team of Turkmenistan will travel to Tashkent, where it will take part in a training camp and compete in the Central Asian Cup.
