A delegation from Turkmenistan took part in a seminar on rural development in Central Asian countries, held in Beijing. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal. The delegation included representatives of relevant ministries and agricultural universities of Turkmenistan. EBRD and CAREC discussed prospects for environmental cooperation in Turkmenistan

On 22 July, negotiations between representatives of the bank and the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) took place at the EBRD office in Turkmenistan. The EBRD delegation was led by Erik Livny, Head of the EBRD Office in Turkmenistan, and the CAREC was represented by Mergen Kepbanov, Director of the CAREC Project Office in Turkmenistan. This was reported by the IIC. During the meeting, the parties discussed priority areas for cooperation in the field of environmental protection. Particular attention was paid to waste management issues. Mr Kepbanov noted that this area is of particular interest to Turkmenistan, where a relevant law has been in force since 2015 and a regulatory framework is being developed. CAREC representatives provided detailed information on current regional initiatives, including programmes on climate change, water management and emissions reduction in the oil and gas sector. The successful Central Asian Conference on Climate Change, which brought together more than 600 participants in May, was noted. The EBRD expressed interest in exploring CAREC's expertise for inclusion in the bank's new five-year environmental strategy. At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their intention to develop their partnership, particularly in areas relevant to the Sustainable Development Goals. This meeting was an important step in strengthening cooperation between international organisations working to address environmental challenges in the Central Asian region.

Turkmen teachers participate in regional English language programme in Kazakhstan

The large-scale educational programme C5+ONE (‘Opening Networks Through English’), organised with the support of the United States, continues in Almaty. Among the 27 Turkmen participants are teachers from universities and secondary schools who, together with colleagues from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, are improving their teaching methods and language skills. This was reported by the IIC. The programme, which started in May 2025, includes three consecutive stages. After completing the online course, participants began a face-to-face intensive course in Almaty, which will last until 3 August. The final stage will be a nine-month period of professional development and networking. According to the organisers, the key objective of the initiative is not only to improve English language skills, but also to establish sustainable professional ties between specialists in Central Asia. This should contribute to regional integration and more active inclusion of countries in the international educational space. Turkmen teachers are actively involved in the learning process, studying modern approaches to teaching. It is expected that upon their return, they will be able to apply the knowledge gained in the national education system, contributing to the improvement of language training for students and schoolchildren.


Belarus and Turkmenistan discussed prospects for cooperation at a meeting at the Foreign Affairs Ministry

Freestyle wrestlers from Turkmenistan won silver and two bronze medals at the Asian Championships

The prestigious Asian Junior Wrestling Championship for athletes under 20 years of age has concluded in the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The Turkmenistan team returned from the competition with three awards of various merits, highlighting the growing authority of the national freestyle wrestling school. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. Nineteen-year-old Dovletgeldi Myradov, a student at the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction, performed particularly well. In the weight category up to 86 kg, he consistently defeated strong opponents from South Korea and India, losing only to an experienced Iranian wrestler in the final and winning the silver medal. No less impressive were the performances of Vatan Annaorazov and Alp Arslan Begenjov, who brought bronze medals to the team. Annaorazov, also representing the Architecture and Construction Institute, showed character in difficult matches against wrestlers from Mongolia, Tajikistan and China. Begenjov, despite an unexpected defeat in the semi-finals, managed to pull himself together and confidently won the consolation match, adding another bronze medal to the team's tally. These achievements were part of the overall success of the Turkmen team, which won five medals in the tournament (including the cadet competition). The participation of athletes from 15 countries in the region made the competition particularly representative, and the awards won confirmed the competitiveness of the Turkmen wrestling school.


Turkmen racers won the International Silk Way Rally

Turkmen racers Merdan and Shokhrat Toylyev became the overall winners in the T2 production off-road vehicle class at the 2025 International Silk Way Rally, which finished on 22 July in the capital of the Altai Republic. This was reported by the Orient news agency. The finish ceremony took place in the centre of Gorno-Altaysk on Lenin Square, attracting thousands of spectators. The crew from Turkmenistan confidently completed the entire distance and won gold trophies in the prestigious rally for the second time in their career. The marathon started on 12 July in Irkutsk and covered a distance of 4,811 kilometres. Over 11 days, the participants traversed the harsh landscapes of Russia and Mongolia, from the shores of Lake Baikal to the sands of the Gobi Desert and the Altai Mountains. The success of the Turkmen crew was an important achievement not only for the drivers themselves, but also for the entire motorsport industry in Turkmenistan, confirming the high level of training of its athletes. A total of 101 teams from 15 countries took part in this year's Silk Way Rally. The organisers have already announced that the project will continue in 2026, promising an even more challenging and spectacular route.

Turkmenistan concluded major deals with foreign entrepreneurs

In addition, businessmen from Kyrgyzstan reached an agreement with Turkmen partners to purchase raw fabric. During the auction, five transactions were concluded for a total of $92.6 million.


Registration for the Turkmenistan Investment Forum 2025 has begun
