Turkmen and Romanian companies discussed prospects for developing partnership
24.11.2025On 21 November, a meeting with representatives of the Romanian company FAN was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. This was reported by the online publication ‘Business Turkmenistan’. Business cooperation opportunities in the transport and logistics sector were discussed with FAN CEO Marian Staicu. Representatives of the Romanian company received answers to questions from Turkmen enterprises ‘Eminli maslahat’, ‘Halkara Türkmen Logistik’, ‘Zehinli Ýoldaş’ and ‘Döwrebap Ulag Merkezi’, which actively work with European partners. The parties expressed confidence that the meeting would contribute to the expansion of bilateral cooperation.
A conference on international law was held in Turkmenistan
24.11.2025On 19 November, a scientific and practical conference dedicated to improving the national legal system in accordance with international standards was held at the Adalat Palace. This was reported by the Orient news agency. The event, entitled ‘The Year of International Peace and Trust – a Triumph of Prosperity, Progress, and Democracy’ was organised by the Supreme Court of Turkmenistan in conjunction with the Mejlis, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, and the Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Affairs Ministry. The conference was attended by judges, deputies, teachers, researchers and representatives of international organisations, including experts from the UN and the OSCE. Speakers included the director of the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, Yagmyr Nuryev, Mejlis deputy Muhammetberdi Geldimammedov and the Head of the Supreme Court Department, Amantach Gurbanova. Particular attention was drawn to international partners: Head of the UNFPA Representative Office Kemal Goshliyev, UNDP Human Rights Project Manager Lachyn Artykova, UNICEF National Consultant Magtymguly Hojamyradov and OSCE staff member Guncha Nepesova. In their reports, participants discussed the international legal status of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, its role in global security and the country's peacebuilding initiatives, including sustainable development and environmental security. A proposal was made to include the item ‘Neutrality for Peace and Security’ in the agenda of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. At the end of the conference, it was emphasised that all of the country's international initiatives are in line with the UN Charter, and that Turkmenistan supports strengthening the role of the UN in ensuring peace, stability and development, improving the international legal framework and the effective implementation of multilateral agreements.
Turkmenistan presented initiatives to develop academic ties with France
24.11.2025At the conference ‘Turkmen-French Relations: Challenges and Prospects in the Modern World’ in Paris, Gulshat Yusupova, Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan, presented initiatives for the development of academic cooperation with French universities, including Paris II Panthéon-Assas, Sorbonne and the Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po). The proposals focus on joint master's and doctoral programmes in green energy, water resource management and diplomatic studies, as well as research projects in the field of sustainable development, including methane emissions monitoring, hydrogen technologies and environmentally friendly urban planning. G. Yusupova emphasised that Turkmenistan's neutrality is not only a foreign policy doctrine, but also an intellectual concept that promotes dialogue and innovation.
UNICEF highlighted Turkmenistan's achievements in developing inclusive education
23.11.2025At the international forum "Neutrality and Humanism: Comprehensive Support for an Inclusive Future," dedicated to World Children's Day, the Head of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Turkmenistan, Jalpa Ratna, stated that building an inclusive future for all children, including children with disabilities, is only possible with the cooperation of all systems that influence their development. Ratna noted that education, healthcare, social protection, rehabilitation and community participation are elements of a single system that only works effectively when there is full cooperation. Turkmenistan intends to actively develop online trade with Tatarstan
23.11.2025Turkmenistan has proposed deepening trade cooperation with Tatarstan, including in the field of e-Commerce. This was announced by Maksat Gutlymyradov, Head of the Foreign Economic Relations Department of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, at a meeting of the joint Turkmen-Tatarstan working group in Ashgabat, according to the news website Asmannews. According to him, the growth of online formats is important for strengthening economic cooperation. Foreign trade turnover in 2024 reached about $40 million: Turkmenistan's exports amounted to $9.9 million, while imports exceeded $25 million, which is 24% lower than in 2023 due to a reduction in supplies from Tatarstan. At the same time, exports of Turkmen products to Tatarstan increased 6.2 times, from $1.6 million to $9.9 million. This trend was also observed in the first half of 2025, noted M. Gutlymyradov.
Turkmenistan and Moldova discussed prospects for cooperation and preparations for the forum
23.11.2025Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Foreign Affairs Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a telephone conversation with Foreign Affairs Minister of the Republic of Moldova Mihai Popșoi. This was reported by the press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan. The interlocutors exchanged assessments on key areas of current cooperation and considered possible vectors for its further development. The effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries on international platforms, primarily within the UN system, was noted separately. The active participation of the Moldovan delegation in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC-3), which was held in August in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone, was highlighted. In addition, the Ministers discussed organisational issues related to the upcoming International Forum on Peace and Trust, scheduled for 12 December in Ashgabat and timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, the International Year of Peace and Trust, and the International Day of Neutrality.
A Tatarstan trading house will appear in the capital of Turkmenistan
23.11.2025The Republic of Tatarstan plans to open its own trading house in Turkmenistan to further increase mutual trade turnover. This was announced by Oleg Korobchenko, Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan, following the tenth meeting of the joint Turkmen-Tatarstan working group on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation, according to Turkmenportal. According to the Minister, a representative of the Tatarstan trading house confirmed its readiness to launch an office in Turkmenistan, which, according to the parties' estimates, will significantly expand economic exchanges. Korobchenko also stressed that in 2024, trade turnover between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan exceeded $35 million, expressing hope that by the end of this year, this figure will approach the $50 million mark.
Turkmenistan advances to Davis Cup play-offs in Group V
23.11.2025The Turkmenistan national team has advanced to the Davis Cup play-offs in Group V of the Asia-Oceania zone. The matches are being held in Isa Town (Bahrain), where 14 teams are competing. Turkmen tennis players took first place in Group C, beating the tournament hosts, according to ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. In a face-to-face match with Bahrain, the team won 3-0. In singles matches, Selim Chagylov and Allanur Dayanjov each won a match. In the doubles match, Meylis Orazmuhammedov and Yuri Rogussky defeated their opponents from Bahrain. After this series, the statistics of matches between Turkmenistan and Bahrain became 4:2 in favour of the Turkmen team. In the play-offs, the national team will play against the winner of Group B, Guam. The winners of the round will earn the right to compete in Group IV of the Asia and Oceania zone next year. Turkmenistan has been participating in the Davis Cup since 2004. The team achieved its best result in 2015, when it advanced to the playoffs of Group III.
Tbilisi hosted a conference marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality
23.11.2025On 21 November 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia held an international conference in Tbilisi dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality. This was reported by the press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Parliament of Georgia, heads of state structures, heads of diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited in the country. Also participating were a Turkmen delegation, scientists from the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, employees of the Georgian National Centre of Manuscripts, the writing community, rectors and teachers of universities, the private sector and the media. Opening the meeting, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Georgia, D. Seyitmammedov recalled that the 30th anniversary of Neutrality is being celebrated at the international level. He recalled that the UN has recognised Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality status three times. Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of Georgia A. Khvtisiashvili congratulated Turkmenistan on the anniversary and noted that the policy of neutrality makes a significant contribution to maintaining international peace. He emphasised that relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan are based on mutual respect and cover politics, economics, transport, energy, education, culture and sport. Rector of the Georgian Technical University D. Gurgenidze noted the important role of cultural and humanitarian exchange in strengthening bilateral cooperation and creating conditions for long-term academic ties. The event ended with a concert by Turkmen performers. Guests were also offered national dishes of Turkmenistan.
Forum in Ashgabat discussed support for children and the development of inclusive initiatives
23.11.2025A forum entitled ‘Neutrality and Humanism: Comprehensive Support for an Inclusive Future’ was held in Ashgabat to mark World Children’s Day. Participants discussed issues related to the protection of children's rights, the development of international cooperation and the application of global practices in this area. This was reported by TDH. The forum noted that support for the younger generation remains one of the key areas of state policy. The event was joined by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship and the UNICEF Representative Office in Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan is working to protect its historical and cultural heritage
22.11.2025Deputy Chairwoman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bahar Seyidova presented a report on the restoration, reconstruction and protection of historical and cultural monuments during a government meeting on 21 November. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. As part of the ‘State Program for 2022-2028 for the careful preservation of objects of National historical and cultural heritage, their protection and study, and attraction of tourists to them,’ scientific research and restoration work was carried out on national heritage sites in the spring and autumn of this year. The above measures covered the monuments of ‘Paryzdepe’, the mausoleum of ‘Mane Baba’, ‘Juma Mosques’ in the fortress of ‘Ancient Abiverd’ and the settlement of ‘Dehistan’, the caravanserais ‘Karawansaray’, ‘Dayahatyn’ and ‘Akjagala’, as well as the ‘Ancient Amul’ fortress. The third issue of the collection ‘Traces of Centuries’ has been prepared for the international scientific community. Work is also underway to transfer the finds to the State Museum and the Arkadag City Museum of History and Local Lore. After hearing the report, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised the importance of studying and promoting cultural heritage and instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to continue working to preserve it for future generations.
Young people from Turkmenistan will go to study at leading foreign universities
22.11.2025On 21 November, during a government meeting, Bayramgul Orazdurdyeva, Deputy Chairwoman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, reported on plans to send young citizens of Turkmenistan to study at universities in China and Hungary. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that Turkmenistan gives priority to the training of qualified personnel and is expanding opportunities for modern education abroad. After hearing the report, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised the importance of comprehensive training of specialists and recalled that thousands of students are already studying at prestigious foreign universities. The Head of State supported the proposal to send young people to leading educational institutions in China and Hungary in the 2026–2027 academic year and instructed B. Orazdurdyeva to organise the necessary work.
