Chinese scientists arrive in Turkmenistan to establish the ‘Lu Ban Workshop’

Teachers from Xi'an Petroleum University and Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University in China have arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit to establish the ‘Lu Ban Workshop’ at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal. During the visit, Chinese specialists will conduct a week-long training course for young teachers on the application of new technologies in informatics and applied geology, as well as exchange experience with Turkmen universities. Earlier, on 18 October 2024, a Memorandum of Cooperation on the launch of the ‘Lu Ban Workshop’ was signed in Xi'an between the Turkmen university, Chinese universities and educational organisations.


Businessmen from Afghanistan purchased cement on the Turkmenistan Stock Exchange

Last week, 14 deals were concluded on the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. Entrepreneurs from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan purchased base oil, liquefied gas and sodium chloride for foreign currency. Representatives from Serbia, the UAE and Afghanistan purchased licorice, dyed fabric, men's shirts and Portland cement. The total amount of foreign currency transactions exceeded $1.47 million. On the domestic market, Turkmen businessmen purchased licorice extract, base oil, aerated concrete, soapstock fatty acids, and cotton. The total amount of transactions amounted to more than 5.8 million manats.


Turkmenistan delegation took part in the ‘Children of the Commonwealth’ forum in Belarus

On 13 July, the 10th International Cultural and Educational Forum ‘Children of the Commonwealth’ was held in Minsk at the ‘Zubrenok’ National Children's Educational and Health Centre, with the participation of a delegation from Turkmenistan. ‘Turkmenistan’ Airlines has started flights to Seoul

On 14 July, the first direct flight from Ashgabat International Airport to the capital Seoul was operated by ‘Turkmenistan’ Airlines. This was reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan. The route is 5,842 kilometres long, and the flight time is approximately 7 hours and 30 minutes. The first flight was fully booked, with 365 passengers on board. According to the schedule, regular flights on the Ashgabat-Seoul-Ashgabat route will be operated once a week on Mondays. The opening of the new route is intended to improve transport accessibility for students, businesspeople and tourists, as well as simplify logistics between the two countries. The new route is part of a strategy to expand Turkmenistan's international air network and strengthen cooperation with the Republic of Korea in the field of civil aviation.


Turkmen wrestlers won five medals at the Asian Championships

Foreign Affairs Ministries of Turkmenistan and Cyprus discussed cooperation and preparations for UN conference

An international training course on sustainable development of the Caspian Sea has started in Ashgabat

On 14 July this year, a two-week training course entitled ‘The Caspian Sea – Sustainable Development and Management’ opened in Ashgabat, organised by Turkmen authorities in conjunction with the International Ocean Institute (IOI). The training is attended by specialists from all Caspian littoral states – Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Russia – representing various fields ranging from ecology and oil and gas to transport and fisheries. This was reported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan. The course programme includes innovative modules on maritime spatial planning and a special seminar on the Agreement on Marine Biodiversity beyond National Jurisdiction.
