The 13th Taekwondo Cup of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea has concluded in Turkmenistan
18.08.2025The 13th annual taekwondo tournament for the Cup of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea was held in Ashgabat with the participation of more than 250 young athletes from all velayats of Turkmenistan. The competition was held at the Martial Arts Centre of the Olympic Town. This was reported by the IIC. The tournament, organised by the National Taekwondo Centre of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, brought together participants aged 7 to 18. The athletes competed in 29 weight categories. At the end of the competition, the team from Ashgabat took first place in terms of the number of medals won. Cho Hyun, Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Korea in Turkmenistan, emphasised that the tournament, which has been held since 2010, has become an important part of sports cooperation between the two countries. Taekwondo, included in the Olympic Games programme since 2000, continues to develop actively in Turkmenistan. The tournament held in Ashgabat demonstrated the growing skill of Turkmen athletes and the popularity of this sport in the country.
Turkmen businessmen are invited to the Dushanbe Invest-2025 investment forum

Ashgabat marks 79th anniversary of India's independence

Scientists from Turkmenistan are introducing innovative methods for treating horses
17.08.2025Specialists at the Scientific and Production Centre for Horse Breeding of the State Association ‘Türkmen atlary’ are introducing modern physiotherapy methods for the treatment and prevention of diseases of the musculoskeletal system in horses. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal with reference to the newspaper ‘Neutral Turkmenistan’. Together with teachers from the Aba Annayev International Academy of Horse Breeding, they are studying the use of electromagnetic fields, laser and light radiation. The research uses equipment from leading manufacturers: the ‘Summerwind Premium Solarium’ therapeutic solarium for phototherapy, the ‘Mphi Vet’ laser device for stimulating tissue regeneration, and the ‘Biomag Lumina’ electromagnetic blanket for recovery and prevention after exercise. The development of physiotherapy technologies is recognised as one of the centre's priorities and will continue to be used in practical horse breeding, including when working with Ahal-Teke horses.
The Turkmenistan youth team will participate in the Yuri Morozov Memorial Tournament

Turkmenistan's Kyokushin karate team to compete in Central Asian Cup in Tashkent

Turkmen Transport and Logistics Centre completes first trip on new route

A large medical cluster is being built in the Turkmen city of Arkadag
17.08.2025As part of the second phase of construction of the ‘smart’ city of Arkadag in southern Turkmenistan, work is continuing on the construction of a large industrial complex, the centrepiece of which will be a modern medical cluster. Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice-President for Medical Activities of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, familiarised herself with the progress of the work and listened to a report from the Chairman of the State Committee for City Construction. The construction project provides for the creation of a multifunctional production centre where medicines, medical equipment and consumer goods, including baby food, personal protective equipment and other products, will be developed and manufactured. Particular attention is being paid to the use of local raw materials, which will ensure the environmental friendliness of the products and their competitiveness on the market. The cluster's management company has already received international quality certificates, and the ‘Arkadag Medisina Klasteri’ trademark has been officially registered with the World Intellectual Property Organisation. The cluster's capabilities will soon be presented at the Kids EXPO international exhibition in Ashgabat. The project is being implemented as part of the ‘Saglyk’ state programme and is part of the strategy to develop high-tech and import-substituting industries in Turkmenistan. The finished products will be sold both on the domestic market and for export.
Turkmen wrestler among top favourites for U-20 World Championships
17.08.2025Turkmen athlete Alp Arslan Begenjov, reigning world junior freestyle wrestling champion, is among the favourites for the upcoming World Youth Championships in Bulgaria. This was reported by the IIC. The 19-year-old wrestler, who last year became the first junior world champion in the history of Turkmenistan, will defend his title in the 79 kg weight category. In last year's tournament, Begenjov won five convincing victories with a total score of 46:0, without conceding a single point. Begenjov's main rival at the upcoming championship is considered to be Iranian wrestler Mehdi Yusefi, who, after losing to the Turkmen athlete last year, has achieved significant success, including the titles of Asian champion among adults and world champion among juniors under 23 years old. The World Freestyle Wrestling Championship for athletes under 20 will begin on 17 August in Samokov, Bulgaria.
The international seaport of Turkmenistan is increasing its cargo turnover
16.08.2025The international seaport of Turkmenbashi continues to increase its cargo turnover, confirming its strategic role in transport and logistics links between Asia and Europe. According to the results of the first half of 2025, the total cargo turnover of the port amounted to 4 million 209.5 thousand tons, including 2 million 608 thousand tons of cargoes arriving at dry cargo berths and 1 million 601.5 thousand tons of petroleum products. This was reported by the IIC. At the same time, the volume of export cargo traffic reached 2 million 91.68 thousand tonnes, imports - 620.803 thousand tonnes, and transit - 569.605 thousand tonnes. The main destinations for cargo traffic remain Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan. Improvements to the logistics infrastructure and the introduction of digital document management technologies are helping to increase the port's efficiency. These measures create favourable conditions for customers and strengthen the transport and logistics potential of the entire region.
