In total, the Turkmenistan team won 38 medals: 14 gold, 12 silver and 12 bronze, confirming the high level of training of its athletes.
In the 19th round of the Turkmenistan Football Championship, ‘Arkadag’ Football Club defeated ‘Merv’ from Mary with a score of 3:1. Despite a goal by Novruz Bayrammammedov in the 9th minute, the visitors were able to turn the tide of the game due to a double by Altymyrat Annadurdyev and a goal by Didar Durdyev in the second half of the match. Specialists from the ‘Morinzhgeologia’ Service Group climbed the western (5,642 m) and eastern (5,621 m) peaks of Elbrus, where they raised the National Flag of Turkmenistan ahead of the 34th anniversary of the country's independence. The two peaks of the ancient volcano, connected by a high mountain ridge, are a symbol of the Caucasus and the highest points in Europe. The outcome of the match became clear in added time, when the Turkmen team increased their lead in the 93rd minute. Due to the second victory, the youth team of Turkmenistan added three more points to its tally. Now it has six points in the qualifying stage. The team's next opponent will be the youth team of Jordan - the match with the hosts is scheduled for 9 September.
The Turkmenistan team won two gold medals at the ‘Platinum Cup’ international tournament, which was held in Almaty. This was reported by IIC. The winners were Alexey Voronin and Sanjar Yolamanov, who went through the tournament without a single defeat. Their confident performances brought the Turkmenistan team the highest awards, and the national anthem was played for the athletes during the award ceremony. The Turkmenistan U23 national football team secured a convincing 5-1 victory over Chinese Taipei in their first match of the Asian Cup qualifying round. 39-year-old international grandmaster Meylis Annaberdiyev from Turkmenistan won silver at a prestigious international chess tournament in Cappadocia, Turkey. The tournament, which brought together 78 chess players from 10 countries, was held according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. Among the participants of the tournament were 3 international grandmasters, 11 FIDE masters and 10 international masters. The Turkmen athlete scored 6.5 points, losing first place to Iranian international master Seyed Kian Poormosavi. Third place went to international master Diego Rodri Flores Quillas from Peru. Young Turkmen chess player Osman Hamrakuliyev won the ‘Malatya Golden Apricot’ International Open Tournament, which took place in the Turkish city of Malatya. This was reported by the IIC. The competition brought together 486 participants from eight countries: Turkmenistan, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Morocco, Syria and Turkey. The tournament was held according to international standards: 9 rounds using the Swiss system, with a time control of 90 minutes per game plus 30 seconds per move. O. Hamrakuliyev scored 7.5 points out of 9 and demonstrated stable and confident play throughout the tournament, confidently ahead of his competitors. The Turkmen chess player is a student of international grandmaster Maksat Atabayev. From early childhood, O. Hamrakuliyev has shown a deep interest in chess and has been actively participating in competitions since the age of four. He is currently in the 7th grade at the Turkmen-Russian School named after A.S. Pushkin, where he also excels in his studies. The victory in Malatya was another success for Osman: earlier, from 18 to 24 August 2025, he took second place in the under-12 age category among boys at the International Tournament in Cappadocia.
