The parties discussed the regional situation and Turkmenistan's foreign policy priorities, including neutrality, good neighbourliness and mutually beneficial cooperation. Special attention was paid to the international energy projects TAPI and TAP, which are important for diversifying exports and strengthening energy security in the region. The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation, Esen Aydogdyev, sent greetings to participants and guests of the Russian-Turkmen concert ‘Music of Peace, Music of Friendship and Brotherhood,’ which will take place in Moscow on 15 August. Aydogdyev noted that the concert is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality and the proclamation of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust. A meeting on cooperation with China in the field of education was held in Turkmenistan

A meeting was held at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas with a delegation from the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of China on the development of cooperation in the teaching of Chinese in Turkmenistan. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. Employees of the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the PRC presented their own work aimed at improving Chinese language teaching methods and the use of advanced modern technologies in the educational process. The Centre's delegation offered its Turkmen colleagues assistance in developing teaching aids and materials, as well as in improving the qualifications of the university's teaching staff. During the meeting, the delegation from the PRC visited the Oil and Gas Faculty of the Turkmen university and familiarised themselves with the work of the Department of Foreign Languages. It should be recalled that a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the study of the Chinese language between the Y. Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas and the China University of Petroleum was signed in 2023.


An international conference marking Caspian Day has begun in Turkmenistan

An international scientific and practical conference dedicated to Caspian Sea Day was held in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone. The large-scale event entitled ‘The Caspian Sea – A Sea of Friendship and Peace’ is attended by representatives of diplomatic missions of the Caspian littoral states, as well as members of authoritative international organisations (UN, OSCE, UNEP, UNDP, EU). The agenda includes topical issues related to the implementation of the Tehran Convention, the importance of the Hazar State Nature Reserve in Turkmenistan for the preservation of the region's biological diversity, and the role of the Caspian Sea for ornithology. Conference delegates plan to focus on the development of eco-tourism in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone and discuss environmental standards in the work of the Turkmenbashi International Sea Port. In addition, participants will consider the importance of the Caspian Sea for strengthening good-neighbourly relations between the Caspian littoral states. Experts from the World Bank, FAO and the International Maritime Law Institute will join the event via videoconference.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan took part in the international summer school ‘DARYA summer school on Excellence in Teaching and Learning,’ held from 5 to 8 August in Kyrgyzstan. The event was dedicated to the concept of ‘School of Professional Excellence’ and the use of SCAFFOLD and ISATCOVE tools in DARYA projects. The school included three key areas: developing project policies for vocational training centres, improving teacher qualifications, and introducing innovative teaching methods. Participants worked in a format of training sessions, interactive sessions, and group discussions, creating roadmaps for development in their countries.


Turkmenistan and Vietnam discussed the development of bilateral cooperation

The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, congratulated the participants of the Scientific and Practical Conference ‘The Caspian Sea – A Sea of Friendship and Peace’ on the start of the forum, as well as on Caspian Sea Day. The Head of State noted that Turkmenistan actively initiates the development of trade, economic and cultural ties in the region, supported by the Caspian countries. An important step was the holding of the first Caspian Summit in Ashgabat, which laid the foundations for multifaceted cooperation and the development of key documents, such as the Framework Convention on the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea. The President of Turkmenistan recalled the first Caspian Environmental Forum in 2012 in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone and highlighted the country's efforts in environmental partnership. The Head of State also noted initiatives to intensify energy, transport and trade cooperation, including the Caspian Economic Forum in 2019 and proposals made at the sixth Caspian Summit in 2022. In September 2023, Turkmenistan proposed at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly to establish a ‘Caspian Environmental Initiative’ to strengthen environmental cooperation. Avaza was named an example of sustainable development and a venue for important international events, including the recent UN conference on landlocked countries. Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the forum and accompanying events would contribute to strengthening cooperation, scientific study of the Caspian ecosystem and the development of peace and trust in the region, wishing the participants good health and success.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan took part in commemorative events in Hiroshima and Nagasaki

On 6 and 9 August 2025, commemorative events were held in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to mark the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings. They were attended by Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Japan A. Bayramov, as well as Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, members of the government, parliamentarians, diplomats and representatives of international organisations. This was reported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan. The events focused on issues such as the renunciation of nuclear weapons, the prevention of military conflicts and the strengthening of trust between states. The leaders of Hiroshima and Nagasaki called on world leaders to create new security mechanisms based on diplomatic dialogue. At the end of the event, a peace declaration was adopted calling on Japan to ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and to develop a concrete plan for its elimination at the 2026 Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference.
