Turkmenistan will present its products at the ‘Halal Expo 2025’ exhibition in Istanbul

Turkmenistan will participate in the ‘Halal Expo 2025’ international exhibition, which will be held in Istanbul in November. The participation of the national pavilion was approved by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, on 5 September at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, according to the state news agency TDH. At the exhibition, Turkmen companies will present products in the fields of agriculture, textiles, transport, logistics and tourism, demonstrating the country's commitment to diversifying exports and complying with international standards. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguly Atagulyev reported on preparations for the event. The Head of State stressed that participation in such exhibitions strengthens trade and economic ties with foreign partners.


Turkmen specialists made a study visit to Germany

A delegation from Turkmenistan, including representatives of the State Customs Service and the Transport and Logistics Centre, made a study visit to Germany from 24 to 30 August. The training was initiated by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) as part of a regional project to simplify trade processes in Central Asia. This was reported by IIC. The purpose of the trip was to learn about Germany's innovative approaches to logistics and supply chain management. Turkmen experts visited a number of leading market players, including the Rhenus Group and DHL Innovation Centre. Specialists from Turkmenistan were shown the use of AutoStore robotic warehouse systems, automated vehicles, mobile robots and ‘green’ distribution centres powered by renewable energy. The key topics of the visit were digital transformation, automation and the implementation of environmentally friendly practices in logistics. The experience gained and professional contacts established will be used to modernise the national infrastructure and optimise customs processes in Turkmenistan.


President of the International Gas Union announced participation in OGT 2025 in Ashgabat

Andrea Stegher, President of the International Gas Union (IGU), will be a keynote speaker at the OGT 2025 conference, which will take place from 22 to 24 October in Ashgabat. His participation is intended to strengthen the discussion on the role of gas in the global energy transition and highlight the strategic importance of Turkmenistan in the Eurasian energy sector. The IGU brings together more than 130 organisations from 70 countries, representing over 90% of the global gas market and promoting safe and low-carbon solutions. OGT 2025 is expected to attract more than 300 delegates from 40 countries, including ministers, oil and gas company executives, technology experts and representatives of financial institutions. Turkmenistan and Japan expand cooperation in trade and textile industry

A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations N. Agahanov, paid a working visit to the Japanese cities of Osaka and Tokyo from 30 August to 3 September this year. The visit was dedicated to the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of trade and the textile industry. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. In Tokyo, meetings were held with the Chairman of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee on Economic Cooperation, H. Tsubai, and the President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) N.Ishiguro. In Osaka, negotiation was held with M. Ichinoki, Deputy Secretary-General of the EXPO 2025 Japan Association, as well as with representatives of the Saudi Arabia and Qatar pavilions at EXPO 2025. The key topics of the negotiation were opportunities for Japanese companies in the Turkmenistan market, the development of export-import operations and the promotion of Turkmen textile products in Japan. The parties discussed specific initiatives to strengthen trade and economic partnership between the two countries.


Turkmenistan's trade turnover with the Persian Gulf states reaches $2 billion

In 2024, trade turnover between the Persian Gulf countries and Central Asia reached $3.3 billion, which is 4.2 times higher than in 2020. This was reported by the online publication Arzuw.news. Turkmenistan became the largest partner of the Gulf countries with a volume of $2 billion (61% of total trade), increasing trade almost tenfold. Uzbekistan ranked second with $740 million (23%), and Kazakhstan ranked third with $302 million (9%). The UAE remains the absolute leader among the Gulf countries, accounting for 97% of trade with the region. Overall, 80% of turnover consists of supplies from the Gulf countries to Central Asia. For Turkmenistan, this trade accounts for about 10% of foreign trade, the highest figure in the region. Experts estimate the unrealised potential of mutual trade at $4.9 billion, mainly due to exports of cars, electronics and jewellery from the Gulf, as well as metals and agricultural products from Central Asia.


Turkmenistan and Pakistan step up cooperation in maritime transport and logistics

Businessmen from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have concluded deals with the State Concern ‘Türkmenhimiýa’

1 September – On the foreign market, the State Concern ‘Türkmenhimiýa’ signed contracts for the supply of liquefied gas with entrepreneurs from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. Trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Mangistau Region amounted to $9.2 million

In the first half of 2025, trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan reached $9.2 million, which is 19% more than a year earlier. Korean companies have implemented major investment projects in Turkmenistan

Korean companies have implemented a number of large investment projects in Turkmenistan, according to the state news agency TDH. Among the largest projects are a gas chemical complex in Balkan velayat worth more than $3.4 billion, a commercial gas purification plant at the ‘Galkynysh’ field worth $1.48 billion, and a chemical complex in Turkmenabat worth $682 million. On 29 August, a telephone conversation took place between the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae-myung. During the telephone conversation, the parties noted the successful cooperation and positive experience of Korean companies, including ‘Hyundai’, ‘Daewoo’ and ‘LG’. The President of South Korea thanked the President of Turkmenistan for creating favourable conditions for their activities.
