Turkmenistan solemnly celebrated Constitution and State Flag Day
19.05.2025On 18 May, Turkmenistan celebrated Constitution and State Flag Day, one of the most important state holidays of the country. Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, members of the Government, parliamentarians and diplomatic corps attended the ceremonies in Ashgabat. This is reported by IIC. The central event was the laying of flowers at the Constitution Monument and the Main Flagpole of the country. In his festive address, the Head of state emphasised that the Constitution serves as the basis of sovereignty and prosperity of Turkmenistan, while the State Flag embodies the independence, neutrality and rich cultural heritage of the Turkmen people. Special attention was paid to the constitutional principle that the human being is the supreme value of society. The President of Turkmenistan noted that all the country's achievements are aimed at the well-being of its citizens. The festive events ended with a colourful concert in the amphitheatre of the Ashgabat Park, where the leading creative groups of the country performed. Arkadag Club wins eighth consecutive victory at the Turkmenistan Championship
19.05.2025In the 11th round of the Turkmenistan Football Championship Arkadag won a convincing victory over Shagadam with the score 4:1. The match, held in Turkmenbashi, started with an early goal by Mekan Saparov, who opened the score in the 3rd minute. The first half ended with the doubling of the guests' advantage after Velmurad Ballakov's accurate shot in the 37th minute. This is reported by the ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’ online edition. In the second half, Shagadam briefly reduced the deficit thanks to Ashir Jumadurdyyev's goal, but Altymurad Annadurdyyev's double (from the penalty spot and in added time) set the final score of the match. This result allowed Annadurdyyev to equal the number of goals (6) with the leader of the scoring race Didar Durdyev. After this victory Arkadag gained 24 points and moved to the first place in the standings, ahead of Ahal, which has the same number of points. ‘Shagadam’ with 21 points occupies the third position. This victory was the eighth consecutive win for ‘Arkadag’ in the championship. In other matches of the round, ‘Merv’ and ‘Nebitchi’ played a goalless draw in Mary, and ‘Ashgabat’ shared points with ‘Kopetdag’, which spent most of the match in the minority after the suspension of Bayramgeldi Gulmayev. The tour will end with a principled confrontation between ‘Altyn Asyr’ and ‘Ahal’ at the stadium in Byuzmeyin etrap.
Turkmen delegation took part in the conference on digital education in China
18.05.2025The Turkmen delegation headed by Deputy Education Minister Alexander Amanov took part in the World Conference on Digital Education ‘Education Development and Transformation: The Era of Intelligence’, which was held from 14 to 16 May in Wuhan (China). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. According to the source, during his speech at the plenary session, the representative of Turkmenistan shared the national experience of digitalisation of education. Particular emphasis was placed on the Concept of Digital Education Development for 2017-2025, in the process of implementation of which electronic platforms, educational networks, e-library system, AR/VR technologies are being introduced. In addition, the Turkmen side paid special attention to the study of Chinese experience, including the results of cooperation with the Beijing Normal University (BNU) and the Central China Normal University (CCNU), as well as the implementation of the joint roadmap with the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education for 2024-2025. The delegation of Turkmenistan expressed readiness to cooperate within the framework of the Digital Public Goods Alliance initiative and supported the idea of creating an international online platform for joint development of digital education standards.
Parliamentarians of Turkmenistan and Iran discuss strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties
18.05.2025Members of the Turkmen-Iranian friendship group met in the building of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan on 16 May 2025. This was reported by the press service of the national parliament. During the talks, the sides discussed ways to improve the activities of bilateral inter-parliamentary groups and establish closer contacts between the relevant committees. It was emphasised that the Turkmen-Iranian relations, dynamically developing in various spheres, are based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and benefit. Within the framework of the meeting, the Iranian side was presented information on the structure of the national parliament of Turkmenistan, as well as on the lawmaking activities aimed at supporting the priority directions of the state policy in the field of education, science, social protection and ecology. At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed satisfaction with the current level of interstate dialogue and stressed the availability of ample opportunities for further expansion of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation based on the principles of respect and good-neighborliness.
In honour of the Constitution and Flag Day of Turkmenistan, a creative delegation visited Iran
18.05.2025On the eve of the National Holidays - Constitution Day and the State Flag of Turkmenistan - the Turkmen creative delegation paid a visit to the Gulistan Province of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This is reported by the IIC. The trip was timed to honour the memory of great poets - Magtymguly Pyragy and his father Dovletmammad Azadi. The key point of the visit was a pilgrimage to the village of Aktokai, where the burial places of the outstanding poets are located. The programme of the visit also included a visit to the city of Gorgan, which was another manifestation of mutual respect and historically strong cultural ties between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Iran.
A conference in honour of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality was held in Moscow
18.05.2025Moscow hosted the international conference ‘Linking Times and Civilisations’ timed to mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality. The event, organised with the assistance of the Embassy of Turkmenistan at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, brought together scientists, orientalists, archaeologists and ethnographers from different scientific institutions. This was reported by the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission. The participants stressed the importance of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Turkmenistan, including the monuments of Gonur-Depe and Nisa. They noted the country's active cooperation with foreign scientific centres and the contribution of the Turkmen people to the development of world civilization. Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan met with ADB Director
18.05.2025The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the Director of the Asian Development Bank's Representative Office in Turkmenistan Arthur Andrysiak in the city of Arkadag. The parties noted 25 years of successful experience of cooperation and discussed the implementation of the new Partnership Strategy for 2024-2028, paying special attention to the issues of ‘green’ economy and structural transformation. Turkmen and Chinese scientists discussed joint projects to fight desertification
18.05.2025A working meeting with a delegation of scientists from the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was held in the conference hall of the National Institute of Deserts, Flora and Fauna of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan. The Chinese delegation was headed by the director of the Institute, Professor Abuduwaili Jilili. This is reported by the Internet publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. During the meeting, the sides exchanged information on current research and outlined directions for joint work. The presentations of the two countries' specialists provoked a lively discussion, during which the scientists discussed key issues of desert science, including methods of developing arid territories, combating desertification and fixing mobile sands. Turkmen specialists presented their latest developments in the field of environmental management, which could be useful for their Chinese colleagues. In turn, the guests shared innovative approaches to utilising resources of desert ecosystems and restoring their ecological balance. As part of the visit, the Chinese delegation visited the experimental sites of the Institute, including the Karrykul site in the Central Karakums. Here, the scientists inspected man-made plantings of pistachio adapted to local conditions, and also studied phytomelioration methods used to fix barchans.
The 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality was celebrated in Stavropol Krai
18.05.2025On 16 May 2025, a solemn event dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality was held in the village of Edelbay in the Astrakhan district of the Stavropol Krai. The event was organised by the Consulate of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation (Astrakhan) and secondary school No. 14 of Edelbay village. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The holiday began with a ceremony of laying flowers at the monument of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy, whose work symbolises the spiritual values and wisdom of the Turkmen people. The event was attended by representatives of the district administration, cultural and educational figures, as well as students from Turkmenistan studying in Russia. As part of the programme, the guests presented vivid creative numbers: poems, folk songs, dances and musical compositions reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Turkmenistan. At the end of the concert, the most active participants were awarded with memorable gifts from the Consulate of Turkmenistan.
