Hero Arkadag noted that the award was recognition of the Head of State's contribution to the development of international relations and the strengthening of cooperation with Uzbekistan, AsmanNews reports. The congratulatory message emphasises that Turkmenistan is strengthening its position in world politics by following the principles of permanent neutrality and developing cooperation based on good neighbourliness. The President's state visit to Uzbekistan and participation in the VII Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia are highlighted as significant steps in strengthening the partnership. Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation is named as an important factor for peace and stability in the region. The launch of the Turkmen-Uzbek border trade zone has confirmed the successful economic ties between the two countries. On the second day of the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Uzbekistan, high-level negotiations were held with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During the meeting, the Heads of State discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, energy, transport, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. The high dynamics of trade and economic relations were noted: mutual trade between the countries has doubled in recent years. The parties expressed their intention to expand industrial cooperation and intensify business participation in joint projects. Particular attention was paid to transport integration issues. With a view to developing international corridors, Turkmenistan proposed considering the creation of a Farab-Alat logistics hub on the border between the two countries and stressed the importance of developing routes between China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan with access to the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf. The parties also noted the importance of cooperation in the energy sector: Turkmenistan already exports electricity to Uzbekistan, and further development of the partnership on gas projects is being discussed. Prospects for joint work in agriculture, medicine, ecology and other areas were considered. After the negotiations, the Heads of State took part in a ceremony to mark the opening of the Turkmen-Uzbek border trade zone. The facility was opened via video link at the request of residents of the border regions of the two countries. This centre will become a new driver of regional trade and cooperation. In the presence of the leaders, bilateral agreements were signed on cooperation in the fields of agriculture, healthcare, transport, culture, justice, environmental protection and emergency situations. A joint expert council was also established and a Roadmap for cooperation in the field of forestry for 2026-2030 was signed. Following the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev made statements to the press, emphasising the importance of the visit for further strengthening the friendship and strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.


New trade hub on the border: Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan expand mutual trade

Turkmen athlete becomes three-time Asian champion in hand-to-hand combat

On 15 November, Pattaya (Thailand) hosted the OPEN ASIAN CUP international martial arts tournament. Athletes from several Asian countries took part in the competition, according to IIC. Young athlete Amangeldi Garabegov from Turkmenistan competed in the hand-to-hand combat category for boys aged 12–13 (up to 45 kg) and won the gold medal. This is his third victory in continental tournaments. Amangeldi Garabegov became a three-time Asian champion. Turkmen acrobats won eight bronze medals at the Asian Championships in India

The Turkmenistan national sports acrobatics team won eight bronze medals at the 14th Asian Championships. The competition was held in the state of Goa (India), according to Turkmenportal. The tournament was attended by 173 athletes from six countries: China (Hong Kong), North Korea, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, India and Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan was represented by a men's group in the 13-19 age category: Ishan Babayev, Danil Vasilyev, Azim Amanov and Muhammet Ashyrov. The team was led by head coach Roman Shevchukov. The coaching staff also included Bayramguly Melejayev and choreographer Svetlana Gasparyan. Turkmen acrobats took third place in all disciplines — balance, vaulting and all-around. The team received an invitation to the World Cup, which will be held on 5–7 June 2026 in Baku.


Turkmenistan calls for unified environmental diplomacy in the region

‘Mission DOBRO’ in Ashgabat: Russian medical professionals strengthen cooperation with Turkmenistan

A delegation of doctors from the Russian Railways Medicine network made a working visit to Turkmenistan as part of the international volunteer initiative ‘Mission DOBRO’. Yulia Balakina, senior inspector for medical prevention and healthy lifestyle promotion at the Central Health Directorate of Russian Railways, told the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. ‘This is our second trip to Turkmenistan as part of the mission, and it is a great honour for us to return here,’ Yulia Balakina emphasised. The delegation included six doctors of various specialties from Russian Railways Medicine clinics. The Russian specialists visited key medical institutions in Ashgabat, including the International Centre for the Treatment of Eye Diseases, the Scientific and Clinical Centre for Cardiology, the Centre for Maternal and Child Health, and the International Rehabilitation Centre. This year, for the first time, a neurologist was included in the delegation at the request of the Turkmen side. He conducted numerous consultations for children with neurological diseases and gave lectures on speech development disorders. In total, over 120 patients were examined during the mission, and six ophthalmological, cardiac surgery and gynaecological operations were performed. The delegation members highly appreciated the level of technical equipment in Turkmen medical centres, emphasising that it meets modern international standards. During a visit to the Ministry of Health of Turkmenistan, the Russian side expressed its gratitude for the warm welcome and the opportunity to continue cooperation. Promising areas for future collaboration include the exchange of experience, internships, master classes and the strengthening of educational work.


Turkmenistan called on countries in the region to adopt common positions on security issues

In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan highlighted the importance of further strengthening political and diplomatic cooperation, both at the regional level and in international forums, primarily within the framework of the UN. ‘I am convinced that a common position on combating terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, as well as countering new challenges in the field of cyber, information and biological security will strengthen our internal stability and create favourable external conditions,’ said Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
