Students and high school students from Turkmenistan took part in the forum in Taganrog

HEI and high school students from Turkmenistan took part in the XXIII All-Russian ‘Chekhov Cup’ Forum in Taganrog. The event, which brought together 124 participants from different countries, provided an opportunity to improve debating and argumentation skills, according to IIC Turkmenistan. In addition to representatives from Turkmenistan, students from China, the Central African Republic, Russia, Colombia and Nigeria attended the forum. The event was organised by the Institute of Management of the Southern Federal University, ‘Global-NPD’ and the IT company ‘Logovo’, with the support of the Territorial Electoral Commission of the city of Taganrog. The debates were held in the Karl Popper, World Schools Debate and British Parliamentary formats in Russian, English and Chinese. An oratory competition was also held as part of the forum. Representatives from Turkmenistan actively participated in master classes and debates in three languages, and also visited the Sambek Heights memorial. The forum concluded with an award ceremony for the winners.


WHO technical advisory mission held in Turkmenistan

A technical advisory mission led by experts from the WHO Regional Office for Europe and organised by the WHO Country Office took place in Turkmenistan from 27 to 29 June. WHO experts supported the country's efforts to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of chronic respiratory diseases, including COPD and bronchial asthma. During the visit, strategic meetings were held with representatives of the Ministry of Health to discuss achievements and experiences in implementing relevant programmes. The experts also visited health facilities involved in the pilot implementation of clinical pathways for patients, from prevention to palliative care. On 28 June, a seminar on improving approaches to the treatment of COPD and asthma was held in Ashgabat, with a focus on evidence-based methods and an interdisciplinary approach. In addition, experts helped to adapt national clinical protocols to international standards and principles of evidence-based medicine.


Head of Turkmenistan congratulates President of Argentina on Independence Day

The main purpose of the visit was to familiarise himself with the preparations for the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which will be held in August in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone. During his inspection, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited a number of key facilities, including the ‘Avaza’ multifunctional sports complex. The Hero Arkadag emphasised the importance of creating comfortable conditions for the forum participants and gave instructions to equip the area with modern technical solutions, ensure fire safety and coordinate the work of all structures involved. Special attention was paid to issues related to media coverage of the event. The National Leader of the Turkmen people instructed to prepare various materials and video presentations on Turkmenistan's cooperation with the UN, as well as exhibitions showcasing the achievements of the country and other participating states. During his tour of the complex, the Hero Arkadag familiarised himself with the information presented on the progress of preparations for the conference. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the design projects being implemented and the organisational measures being taken. It was emphasised that special attention is being paid to fire safety, the technical equipment of the administrative centre and compliance with all requirements necessary for holding the event at a high international level. The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted the importance of coordinating the work of all structures involved, as well as carrying out preparatory activities in strict accordance with the approved action plan. The topic of information support was also touched upon: it is planned to provide multilingual support, create video materials about Turkmenistan's cooperation with the UN, and study the wishes of delegates in order to create a comfortable environment during the forum. Summing up, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the event would be held at a high level and would become an important milestone in the development of international partnership. The trip to the Balkan velayat continues.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan issued a statement in response to a report by the Ukrainian television channel ‘FREEДОМ’ on 8 July, in which Turkmenistan was described as a ‘closed’ country with limited access to the Internet. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The Foreign Affairs Ministry's statement protests against such information, which the Turkmen side considers unreliable and biased. It emphasises that the authors of the material have no direct experience of interaction with Turkmenistan, have not visited the country and have not been in contact with its official and public structures. It is also noted that this is not the first case of dissemination of inaccurate information about Turkmenistan by the TV channel. The Foreign Affairs Ministry recalled the long-standing cooperation between the two countries, including gas supplies to Ukraine and the participation of Ukrainian companies in infrastructure projects in Turkmenistan. In conclusion, the Turkmen side called on the Ukrainian authorities responsible for information policy to take measures to prevent such publications in the future.


Turkmenistan boosts poultry export potential

The ‘Nurly meýdan’ poultry complex, a key producer of chicken meat and eggs in the country, is successfully operating in the Bereket etrap of the Balkan velayat. The enterprise covers an area of 50 hectares and carries out the entire production cycle, from chick incubation to finished products. This was reported by the IIC. The complex produces 200-250 thousand chickens per month, which is a significant part of the total volume in Turkmenistan. Production capacity allows for the production of 8 thousand tonnes of chicken meat and 30 million eggs annually. The enterprise has 260,000 laying hens, which produce 130,000-140,000 eggs daily, with plans to increase this figure to 240,000. Particular attention is paid to product quality, which is confirmed by growing demand both on the domestic market and abroad. Supplies to Afghanistan have already been established, and negotiations are underway to enter the markets of Kazakhstan, Georgia, Russia and the UAE. The activities of ‘Nurly meýdan’ clearly demonstrate the successful development of Turkmenistan's agro-industrial complex, combining modern production technologies with environmental safety of products.


Turkmenistan is building up its maritime potential: construction of new ships is starting

The ‘Türkmendeňizderýaýollary’ agency has announced an international tender for the design, supply of equipment and construction management of two Ro-Ro railway ferries and one dry cargo ship. The project is financed by the Islamic Development Bank and the OPEC Fund under previously signed agreements. This was reported by IIC. All three vessels will be built at the Balkan shipbuilding and ship repair yard, which underscores Turkmenistan's commitment to developing its own shipbuilding capacity. The implementation of the project will increase the cargo-carrying capacity of the national maritime fleet, strengthen Turkmenistan's position as a transport hub in the Caspian Sea region, create new jobs and improve the qualifications of local specialists. Particular importance is attached to the construction of railway ferries that will be able to transport wagons between Caspian ports, which will increase the efficiency of international transport corridors involving Turkmenistan. This project is in line with the country's long-term maritime infrastructure development strategy and will contribute to the diversification of the national economy. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2026-2027.


Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan discussed key areas of cooperation

Juniors from Turkmenistan won six medals at the II Asian Cup in China

From 2 to 7 July, China hosted the 2nd Junior Asian Cup, which brought together the continent's strongest young athletes. Foreign companies are actively purchasing Turkmen goods

On 7 July, representatives of Afghanistan purchased SN-350 base oil from the State Concern ‘Türkmennebit’. This was reported by the press service of the SCRMET. Serbian businessmen signed a contract with the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan for the supply of unrefined dried licorice roots and rhizomes. In addition, entrepreneurs from the UAE concluded a deal with Turkmen entrepreneurs for the purchase of dyed fabric and men's shirts. On the domestic market, a deal was made between local businessmen and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry to buy thick licorice root extract. In total, four deals were made during the auction for a total of 750,846 US dollars and 884,000 manats.


Logistics specialists in Turkmenistan are learning about digital trade technologies

Representatives of the ‘Türkmen logistika’ association took part in a regional training course on the digitisation of trade procedures held in Tashkent. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal, citing the newspaper ‘Neutral Turkmenistan’. The event brought together experts from five Central Asian countries: Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Participants studied the basics of digital trade facilitation and UN/CEFACT standards as part of a project supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The implementation of UN/CEFACT standards aimed at standardising data and processes should contribute to the development of paperless trade and improve the efficiency of cross-border operations in the region. During the training, pilot projects were developed, which are planned to be presented in December 2025. By 2027, the countries intend to implement digital tools — eTIR and eCMR.
