Turkmen footballers secured a confident victory over the Bhutan national team

The Turkmenistan U23 national team secured its second victory in the 2026 Asian Cup qualifying tournament. In a match held in Amman, the Turkmen footballers defeated the Bhutan national team with a score of 2-0. This was reported by IIC. The first goal was scored in the 12th minute of the match. The outcome of the match became clear in added time, when the Turkmen team increased their lead in the 93rd minute. Due to the second victory, the youth team of Turkmenistan added three more points to its tally. Now it has six points in the qualifying stage. The team's next opponent will be the youth team of Jordan - the match with the hosts is scheduled for 9 September.


Turkmenistan and Iran are stepping up cooperation in the field of rail transport

A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Minister of Rail Transport M. Akmammedov, paid a working visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran from 6 to 8 September. During the visit, negotiations was held with Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran F. Sadeg and Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Head of the Railway Department J. Zakeri. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The key topic of the negotiations was the expansion of trade and economic partnership between the two countries in the railway sector. The parties discussed specific proposals to increase transit cargo volumes, in particular, within the framework of intensifying the work of the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran and ‘Ashgabat Agreement’ (Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman corridors). An agreement was reached on developing cooperation to increase trade between the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) and ensuring the effective operation of the Armenia-Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan transit route. During the practical part of the visit, the Turkmen delegation familiarised itself with the work of the carriage control centre in Tehran, the potential of the ‘Aprin’ dry port, and visited the Akyayla-Incheburun railway crossing to assess the work being carried out there.


Turkmen culture is represented at the Asian Culture Festival in Bucharest

The Third Asian Culture Festival was held in Bucharest on 6 September. The event, supported by the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum, brought together diplomatic missions from a number of Asian countries, including Turkmenistan. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Representatives of Romanian government agencies, the diplomatic corps, the media and local residents gathered at the festival venue. The Turkmenistan stand featured a colourful exhibition of national costumes, carpets, embroidery and musical instruments. The public was particularly interested in modern designer interpretations of traditional Turkmen clothing. An integral part of the cultural programme was a performance by a Turkmen musician who played folk melodies on the dutar. Guests were also able to familiarise themselves with the literary heritage: the works of the President of Turkmenistan and National Leader of the Turkmen people, as well as the works of the classic national poet Magtymguly Pyragy in translations into various languages. The festival concluded with a gastronomic exhibition entitled ‘Cuisine of Asian Countries’, which allowed visitors to sample the national dishes of all participating countries.


700 new ‘Yutong’ buses arrived in Ashgabat

A large shipment of 700 new ‘Yutong’ buses has arrived in Ashgabat, which is intended to modernise public transport and improve passenger comfort. This was reported by the Orient news agency. The 12-metre-long buses comply with Euro 5 environmental standards, underscoring Turkmenistan's commitment to environmental safety. The new vehicles are equipped with modern air conditioning systems, digital payment systems, video surveillance and GPS navigation, ensuring passenger comfort and safety. Famous Japanese actress visits Turkmenistan pavilion at EXPO-2025

Turkmenistan is modernizing its legislative framework

On 5 August, at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, presented information on the modernisation of Turkmenistan's legislative framework within the framework of socio-economic development programmes and proposals from ministries and departments. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. It was noted that working groups are preparing draft laws on the legal basis of neutrality and trust policy, intellectual property regulation, virtual asset turnover, and support for international initiatives. Changes are also being made to existing regulations. Preparations for the National Forum were reported to be underway in conjunction with the Halk Maslahaty, the Cabinet of Ministers, regional and city authorities, and public associations. In addition, representatives of the Mejlis took part in events organised by state institutions with the assistance of UN agencies. An English-Turkmen dictionary has been published in the USA to mark significant dates in Turkmenistan's history

In honour of the 34th anniversary of Independence and the 30th anniversary of Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan, the Makul English-Turkmen Dictionary has been published in the United States and is now available for purchase on the global platform Amazon. This was reported by IIC.  The new dictionary contains 16,500 English words with their translations into Turkmen. In addition to everyday vocabulary, it includes highly specialised terminology from the fields of law, economics, medicine, the IT industry, artificial intelligence and sport. The team of authors, led by Doctor of Law Dovran Orazgylyjov, has created a universal reference book intended for a wide audience, from schoolchildren and students to professional translators, diplomats, scientists and businesspeople working in the field of international relations. The global expert community has highly praised the dictionary's significance. Johns Hopkins University professor S. Frederick Starr called it a ‘bridge between languages and cultures’ that strengthens the position of the Turkmen language in the world. Eric Stewart, Executive Director of the American-Turkmen Business Council, noted that the publication will serve as a catalyst for the development of trade and economic partnership between the countries. In addition to the printed version, the dictionary is available as a mobile app and on the specialised website makulsozluk.com. Users are offered additional services: audio pronunciation of words, games and illustrated modules for children, dialogues, as well as a collection of proverbs, idioms and grammatical structures.


A seminar on the implementation of the 2011 OSCE Vienna Document was held in Ashgabat

From 2 to 5 September, the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat hosted a national seminar on the implementation of the 2011 OSCE Vienna Document on confidence- and security-building measures. This was reported by IIC. The purpose of the event was to deepen knowledge of the provisions of the Vienna Document and to enhance the capacity of staff in the field of verification activities and military information exchange. Experts from Kazakhstan and representatives of OSCE structures presented key sections of the document, including defence planning, risk reduction and transparency of military activities. Particular attention was paid to the exchange of military information and regional cooperation. The seminar provided a platform for the exchange of experience between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, including practical simulation of inspection visits. Such initiatives contribute to strengthening trust, transparency and security in the region.


Turkmenistan's capital to host OGT 2025 conference with 300 delegates

The 30th International Conference and Exhibition ‘Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2025’ (OGT 2025) will be held in Ashgabat from 22 to 24 October. More than 300 delegates from 40 countries are expected to attend, and all exhibition space has been booked in advance, according to the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The forum will be held under the motto ‘Energy. Innovation. Development’ and will bring together leading energy experts. Speakers will include IGU President Andrea Stegher, Global Gas Centre Executive Director Valérie Ducrot, Pulitzer Prize winner Daniel Yergin and others. The programme will cover topics such as energy transition, decarbonisation and the application of AI in hydrocarbon production. Special emphasis will be placed on major projects in Turkmenistan, including the ‘Galkynysh’ field, the TAPI gas pipeline and the development of the Caspian shelf. Separate sessions will be devoted to renewable energy, including the hybrid power plant project at Lake Altyn Asyr. S&P Global Platts, SPE and Gaffney Cline will hold expert discussions on digital transformation and gas storage. The programme also includes a round table discussion entitled ‘Youth Perspective: Talent, Skills and AI — Building a Future-Ready Workforce’ with the participation of HR directors from Dragon Oil, Eni and Petronas. The conference aims to strengthen Turkmenistan's status as a key energy hub in Eurasia.


Ashgabat celebrated International Amu Darya Day

Ashgabat celebrated International Amu Darya Day. Festive events were held at the State Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan. This was reported by the Orient news agency. The main goal was to draw attention to issues of rational water use and ecology. The programme began with the ‘Amu Darya’ flash mob, in which children, scientists, cultural figures, bloggers and entrepreneurs took part. The celebration was part of a regional project on water resource management in Central Asia, supported by Germany and Switzerland. The event featured competitions for drawings, photographs and crafts made from recycled materials, with more than 200 young participants presenting their work. The best exhibits were included in the exhibition, and the authors were awarded commemorative prizes. Special attention was paid to master classes on environmental topics — residents of the capital learned how to paint bags and ceramics, as well as how to sculpt with clay. Representatives of various social groups, including pensioners and people with disabilities, took part in these classes. The celebration highlighted the importance of international cooperation for the conservation of water resources in the Amu Darya and the region in the context of climate change.


The Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Minsk visited the Great Stone Industrial Park

The park's administration presented the diplomat with the conditions for residents, including benefits and developed infrastructure.
