Turkmenistan took part in the Central Asia-China talks in Beijing
25.05.2025On 24 May, the Deputy Foreign Affairs Ministers of the Central Asia-China format countries met in Beijing. Turkmenistan was represented by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Ahmet Gurbanov. The participants discussed preparations for the second summit of the Heads of State of the ‘Central Asia-China’ format, which will be held in June in Astana. 25.05.2025President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the participants of the exhibition of carpets and carpet products, as well as the XXV meeting of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs held on the occasion of the Turkmen Carpet Holiday. It is reported by the state news agency TDH. The Head of State noted that Turkmen carpets are an important part of the national heritage and are included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). The President of Turkmenistan emphasised that carpets reflect the spiritual values of the people, their traditions and national peculiarities. Serdar Berdimuhamedov drew attention to the development of the art of carpet weaving in modern Turkmenistan, creation of new enterprises and support of carpet weavers through honourable titles and encouragements. In conclusion, the head of state wished the participants good health, prosperity and success in preserving and promoting the national art of carpet weaving.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated education workers and graduates on the Last Bell ceremony
25.05.2025President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated teachers, education workers and graduates on the ‘Last Bell’ ceremony. It is reported by the state news agency TDH. The Head of State stressed that the current graduates are the first ones to complete education under the 12-year programme developed on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. During this period, the education system has been extensively modernised in line with international standards. Serdar Berdimuhamedov also noted the success of the graduates at international competitions and the importance of science and education for the development of the country, stressing the continuation of efforts to improve educational programmes and conditions for teachers. Addressing the graduates, the Head of State expressed confidence in their role as future builders of Turkmenistan's prosperity and urged them to follow national traditions and improve their knowledge. 25.05.2025The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on behalf of the Turkmen people and the Halk Maslahaty addressed a congratulatory message to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of Ashgabat City Day and the Turkmen Carpet Festival. President of Turkmenistan approves purchase of Chinese municipal equipment for Ashgabat
25.05.2025In order to modernise public utilities and improve the quality of public services for the population, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree allowing the Ashgabat city administration to sign a contract with the Chinese company Changsha Zoomlion Environmental Industry Co., Ltd. It is reported by the state news agency TDH. According to the document, within the framework of the agreement it is planned to purchase specialised vehicles, municipal machinery and equipment, as well as spare parts, designed to ensure the smooth operation of municipal services of the capital.
President of Turkmenistan approves construction of new chemical complex
25.05.2025In order to provide Turkmenistan's agrarians with necessary phosphate fertilisers and develop the chemical industry, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree on signing a contract with South Korean company Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. It is reported by the state news agency TDH. According to the document, the State Concern ‘Türkmenhimiýa’ is authorised to sign an agreement with a foreign partner for the design and construction of a production complex on the basis of Turkmenabat Chemical Plant named after S.A.Niyazov. The complex will annually produce 350,000 tonnes of superphosphate and 100,000 tonnes of ammonium sulphate.
The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported on the results of his working visit to Iran
24.05.2025During the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on 23 May, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov presented a report on the results of the 18th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation. This is reported by the state news agency TDH. According to Meredov, within the framework of the event special attention was paid to the issues of supply and transit of Turkmen gas, expansion of cooperation in the electric power industry, implementation of the project of the Turkmen section of the Mary-Mashhad transmission line and construction of the motorway Gumdag - Etrek - Iranian border. The sides also agreed to establish cross-border trade zones, prepare a work plan for 2026-2028 and intensify business ties, including through exhibitions, forums and a business council. The sides touched upon the prospects of cooperation in the Turkmen-Iranian education, science, health care, sports and within the framework of UNESCO. Deputy Prime Minister noted that a protocol was signed following the meeting. During the visit, the Turkmen delegation held talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Supreme Spiritual Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei. The Iranian President confirmed participation in the International Forum in Ashgabat on 12 December. Summing up the report, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of strengthening good-neighbourly relations with Iran and instructed to continue systematic work on the implementation of the agreements reached within the framework of the Commission.
Delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress
24.05.2025On 22-23 May 2025, representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part in the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress held in St. Petersburg (Russian Federation) in the format of video link. This was reported by the press service of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. The forum was held under the motto ‘Planet Earth: Living in Harmony with Nature’. Since 2008, the Congress has served as an authoritative platform for inter-parliamentary dialogue on environmental security, harmonization of legislation in the field of environmental protection, promotion of healthy lifestyles, environmental education of the population, as well as the formation of a global agenda together with specialized UN bodies. The key topics of the event were food security in the context of climate change, development of co-operation in the Caspian region and environmental problems of megacities. In his speech, the representative of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan emphasised the country's commitment to the principles of sustainable development, noting the consistent measures taken in the field of environmental protection. Special attention was paid to Turkmenistan's initiatives in the field of water diplomacy aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and ensuring environmental well-being.

A regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers was held in Turkmenistan
24.05.2025President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via digital system on 23 May. This is reported by the state news agency TDH. First of all, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov reported on the preparation of the draft law ‘On Virtual Assets’, which provides for legal regulation of activities in the field of digital assets and mining. Next, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Amanov presented information on geological exploration works carried out by the State Corporation ‘Türkmengeologiýa’. Oil and gas fields are being prospected in the western and southern regions of the country with the use of modern equipment. Next, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atahalliyev reported on the progress of agricultural works in velayats. Agro-technical measures on cotton, vegetable and berry crops and wheat, as well as collection of silkworm cocoons and sowing of rice continue in the country. Then, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguly Atagulyyev reported on preparations for the international exhibition-fair ‘Turkmentextile Expo-2025’, which will be held in June in Ashgabat. The event will be attended by representatives of the textile industry, entrepreneurs and foreign companies. Next, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bahar Seyidova presented the programme of cultural and festive events for June. Among them - celebrations for the International Children's Day, World Bicycle Day, Science Day, holidays of culture and poetry of Magtymguly Pyragy, as well as folklore festivals. Then, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bayramgul Orazdurdyyeva reported on preparations for the World Bicycle Day. On 3 June in Ashgabat and other regions will be held mass bicycle rallies, sports competitions and educational activities. Next, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the results of the 18th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation held in Tehran. Next, Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers Mammethan Chakyyev reported on measures to develop civil aviation, including modernisation of infrastructure and preparation for flight tests. Turkmenistan and IMF discuss prospects for economic co-operation
24.05.2025The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted talks between Deputy Foreign Minister Serdar Muhammetdurdyyev and a delegation of the International Monetary Fund headed by the head of the IMF mission on Turkmenistan Anna Rose Bordon on 23 May this year. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. During the meeting, the sides reviewed the current state and prospects of cooperation, paying special attention to macroeconomic stability, structural reforms and technical assistance. The Turkmen side expressed gratitude for the methodological support provided by the IMF in the development of the country's economic policy. Special attention was paid to discussing the challenges associated with global economic instability, as well as the prospects of Turkmenistan's accession to the World Trade Organisation. The IMF representatives positively assessed Turkmenistan's efforts to ensure macroeconomic stability and expressed readiness for further constructive dialogue.
