An international conference on peace, sustainable development and migration was held in Ashgabat

A formal reception dedicated to Russia Day was held at the Yyldyz Hotel in Ashgabat. The Deputy Prime Minister confirmed the course towards strengthening the partnership and said that since the beginning of 2025, trade turnover between the countries had grown by 58%, and over the years of independence, the total volume of mutual trade had exceeded $60 billion. H. Geldimyradov noted the potential for cooperation in energy, transport and digital technologies. The cultural programme of the event included performances by artists with Russian folk dances and songs. The celebration of Russia Day in Ashgabat has become a symbol of the strengthening ties between the two states, the participants of the event emphasised.


Turkmen Agricultural University honours winners of international scientific project competition

The award ceremony for the winners of the Third International Youth Scientific Project Competition dedicated to Sustainable Development Goals was held in Ashgabat. The event was held at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University with the support of relevant ministries of the country. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. A total of 131 projects by students from 13 countries were submitted to the competition. After a two-stage selection process, the jury selected the 18 best projects, which were created by students from universities in Turkmenistan, Iran, Russia, Belarus and other countries. Particular attention was paid to the innovativeness, relevance and practical applicability of the projects. The competition became an important platform for international scientific cooperation. The winners presented projects in the fields of ecology, rational nature management and food security. FAO seminar on SDG indicators held in Turkmenistan

From 10 to 13 June, an online seminar on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is being held at the State Committee for Statistics of Turkmenistan, organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the country. The seminar aims to strengthen the statistical capacity of relevant ministries in the implementation of the roadmap for strengthening monitoring and reporting on the achievement of the SDGs for 2025-2027. Participants are discussing international data collection and analysis methodologies, as well as issues related to the harmonisation of national statistics with global standards. The event is attended by representatives of the State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Committee on Statistics, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the State Committee on Water Management and other relevant institutions of Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan takes measures to improve the environmental situation in the Caspian Sea

Scientists note that the sea level has dropped by two metres over the past 25 years and could fall by another 18 metres by 2100. This threatens the ecosystem, causing soil salinisation, fish stocks to decline and rare species to disappear. This was reported by the online publication TerraNews. The Caspian Sea is the largest enclosed body of water with a unique natural environment. It is home to more than 400 endemic species, including sturgeon and Caspian seals. The Turkmen coast plays a key role in preserving biodiversity – for example, hundreds of thousands of birds overwinter in the Hazar Nature Reserve. Turkmenistan is actively addressing environmental issues. The country is building infrastructure in line with international standards, such as the port of Turkmenbashi and factories in Garabogaz. Large-scale greening programmes are being implemented, and parks and artificial forests are being created. The country supports the Tehran Convention on the Protection of the Caspian Sea and participates in the ‘Caspian Environmental Initiative’. Since 2019, the Caspian Sea Institute has been operating, studying the ecosystem and proposing solutions for its preservation. Ashgabat celebrated the official birthday of King Charles III of the United Kingdom

Pilgrims from Turkmenistan gave sadaqah in Mecca

In honour of the holiday of Eid al-Adha, Turkmen pilgrims performing the Hajj in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina gave sadaqah. This was reported by the online publication ‘Business Turkmenistan’. Turkmenistan took part in the celebration of Russian Language Day at UNESCO headquarters

On Russian Language Day, which marks the birthday of Alexander Pushkin, the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to UNESCO joined in the celebrations at the Organisation's headquarters in Paris. Turkmenistan participated in Baku Energy Week

Turkmenistan will celebrate Eid al-Adha for four days

TESC-2025 scientific and practical conference was held in Turkmenistan

On 5 May, the State Concern ‘Türkmengaz’s Natural Gas Research Institute hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference ‘Environmental aspects of implementing innovative technologies in the development of hydrocarbon fields’ (TESC-2025). The conference was organised by the State Concern ‘Türkmengaz’, ‘Türkmennebit’ and the State Corporation ‘Türkmengeologiýa’, according to the state news agency TDH. The event brought together representatives of national and foreign energy companies, international organisations and financial institutions. Participants discussed current challenges for sustainable development in the industry, the introduction of advanced solutions in hydrocarbon production and processing, as well as issues related to reducing negative impacts on the environment. The opening ceremony was attended by members of the government, heads of relevant departments, representatives of the diplomatic corps, the media and the expert community. The conference continued with thematic sessions on energy prospects, environmental issues and the role of human capital. Representatives of organisations such as the UN, OSCE, ADB, the EBRD, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the International Energy Agency (IEA), the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), as well as international companies including CNPC, PETRONAS, Dragon Oil, Eni S.p.A. and others. Special attention was paid to issues related to reducing methane and carbon dioxide emissions, processing associated gases, building modern gas processing complexes, and introducing environmentally friendly technologies. Innovative approaches to utilising sour gases and developing renewable energy sources were also discussed. Following the conference, a final document was adopted and meetings were held between representatives of the national fuel and energy industry and foreign partners to discuss further cooperation.
