The Turkish delegation's visit to Turkmenistan continues

A delegation of the Higher Education Council of the Republic of Turkey, headed by its chairman Erol Ozvar, is paying an official visit to Turkmenistan from 21 to 24 May. This is reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan. According to the source, during the visit, key meetings were held with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Bayramgul Orazdurdyyeva and Minister of Education Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiev. The parties discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in higher education. The programme of the visit also includes visits to Turkmen universities, where the representatives of the Turkish delegation will meet with their leadership and get acquainted with educational programmes. Excursions to the sights of Ashgabat and a tour of the country's historical and cultural sites are also planned.


EC President invited to take part in International Forum on Peace and Trust

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has sent an official invitation to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to take part in the International Forum of Peace and Trust to be held on 12 December in Ashgabat. The message was handed over to the diplomatic adviser of the European Commission head by Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Belgium Sapar Palvanov. This is reported by the IIC. During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of interaction between Turkmenistan and the European Union. It was noted that bilateral relations are developing in a constructive manner. Particular attention was paid to the significance of the recent meeting of foreign ministers of the EU and Central Asian countries in Ashgabat, as well as the first summit ‘European Union-Central Asia’, which became important stages on the way to the formation of a sustainable partnership. The Turkmen side expressed readiness to step up co-operation with the EU in such priority areas as energy, transport, supply of critical raw materials, education and scientific and technical exchange. Interest in deepening dialogue on regional and global agenda - from economic ties to environmental issues - was also confirmed.


Turkmenistan takes part in international conference in China

From 21 to 25 May, the delegation of Turkmenistan is taking part in the international conference ‘Industry, Education, Research and Practical Cooperation along the Silk Road Routes - 2025’, which is being held in the Chinese city of Xi'an. The event is organised by the Department of Education of Shaanxi Province. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. The delegation included representatives of leading universities of Turkmenistan. G.Rejepova, a teacher of the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, made a speech on behalf of the delegation. In her report, she stressed the importance of cooperation between Turkmenistan and China in ensuring peace and sustainable development, as well as the participation of Turkmen youth in educational programmes in China. The participation of the Turkmen side in the conference symbolises respect for the common historical heritage and traditions linking the two nations since the Great Silk Road era.


The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Pakistan hosted a screening of the film ‘Magtymguly Pyragy’

On 22 May, a screening of the feature film ‘Magtymguly Pyragy’ was held in the building of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad. The event was organised for representatives of the Afghan Turkmen community living in Pakistan, the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission reported. According to the source, at the beginning of the meeting it was noted that the film, made in 2024 in honour of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great poet, is the result of joint work of Turkmen and Uzbek cinematographers. The delegation of Turkmenistan spoke at the 34th session of the UN Commission on the Rule of Law

A delegation of Turkmenistan is taking part in the 34th session of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice at the UN Office in Vienna. This was reported by the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission in Austria. During the session, the Turkmen delegation outlined the key priorities of the national policy in the field of law enforcement. Special attention was paid to measures to counteract forms of transnational crime. The delegation emphasised Turkmenistan's commitment to deepen cooperation with international partners, in particular with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in order to strengthen both national and regional capacities to counter these threats. In addition, the delegation emphasised the importance of Turkmenistan's initiative, as a result of which the UN General Assembly adopted resolution 77/32 in 2023. The document notes the importance of international cooperation in combating transnational organized crime and terrorism, as well as the need to enhance the capacity of law enforcement agencies to detect, investigate and prosecute new and traditional forms of crime. A unique art exhibition ‘Colours of the World’ organised on the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation has opened in the halls of the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. The visitors' attention was particularly drawn to the works of Turkmen artists, selected thanks to the professional approach of the gallery's curators, the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission in the Russian Federation reports. The exhibition included one hundred works presented by twenty embassies of Asia, Africa, Middle East, Latin America and CIS countries. Each work reflects national artistic traditions and modern trends, forming a bright, multi-layered picture of the world's cultural diversity. The event took place in the new building of the gallery on Kadashevskaya Embankment and gathered about 60 diplomatic missions. Some of the diplomats not only curated the exposition, but also acted as authors of the presented works. Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages jointly with the Beijing International Studies University (People's Republic of China) organised a webinar in the format of video link, on the theme ‘Historical roots and national features of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan’. Turkmenistan and China discussed the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue

As part of the working visit of the delegation of Turkmenistan led by Chairman of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova to the People's Republic of China, the delegation held extended talks with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji. They discussed the prospects of cooperation in the format ‘Central Asia - China’, including the establishment of an inter-parliamentary council, holding thematic forums with the participation of women and youth, as well as the activation of the work of inter-parliamentary friendship groups. Gulmanova expressed confidence that the meetings and talks would give an additional impetus to the development of the inter-parliamentary dialogue. Turkmen delegation visits Song Qingling Centre in Beijing

On 22 May 2025, a delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Chairman of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova visited the Song Qingling Youth Scientific, Technical and Cultural Exchange Centre of the People's Republic of China, located in Beijing, during a working visit to the People's Republic of China. In addition, the delegation noted the participation of Deputy Chairman of the Foundation Shen Bailey in the March conference in the city of Arkadag dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 4th anniversary of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship. The Chinese side positively assessed the activities of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Foundation and expressed interest in expanding co-operation. ‘White City Ashgabat’ Forum starts with Pre-Conference Day

International conference on architecture and urban development held in Ashgabat

On May 21, the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction held an international scientific and practical conference ‘Ashgabat - the Pearl of National Architecture’, dedicated to the City Day. Experts from 10 countries, including Turkmenistan, the CIS countries, Italy and the United States, participated in a hybrid format. The event opened with an exhibition of scientific projects and decorative and applied arts, where the concept of the institute's new complex, scheduled to open in 2026, was presented.
